Pours a ruddy, dark cola brown color with a large, spongy, khaki colored head. The foam shows good retention, with spots and flares of lacing marking the glass. The aroma is very roasty, with strong notes of coffee, baker’s chocolate, scorched caramel, and dry, earthy hops. Flavors continue this theme, as the roasty, bitter coffee and chocolate and nicely balanced by sweet caramel tones. Medium bodied, with moderate carbonation, the finish gets to be a little too syrupy and cloying over time. Coffee lingers on the tongue for ages. True to it’s name, this is a coffee porter through and through. Nice beer.

Bottle. Pours a dark body with a tan head. Sweet roasty malt, Java, a cup of joe. Coffee all the way. Sweet oily a bit silky. Lighter coffee body then in the aroma. Its good.

Pours medium brown with a small 1/16 inch caramel colored head. Smells of rich coffee dominate the aromas of roasted malts. First sip is coffee, coffee, coffee, followed by a nice tasty bitterness. That coffee taste balances well with the malt, but the coffee dominates and everything else is just playing a supporting role. The malt backbone is surprisingly lighter than expected. I would love to have an imperial version of this really good coffee porter.

On tap. Black with a brown head. Pretty beer. Nose is sweet black coffee and dry chocolate. Oddly, it has a weak flavor, mild coffee and chocolate. Very meh.

Great dark coffee flavored brew. Visited my girlfriends dad in Mass and came across the Berkshire line of beers and was pretty impressed. Liked the 22oz bottles for the price excellent deal.

22 oz. bottle - thanks to drewbeerme for the trade; pours clear and dark cola; nice nose of roasty and nutty coffee with some sweetness mixed in; flavor is a mouthful, but not overpowering in any way; just nice a smooth; pretty darn good and the coffee was well used for a smooth, rich texture; my own homebrewed coffee porter stood up well next too it, so that made me feel good :)

22oz bottle purchased from Charles Street Liquors in Boston. I don’t have much faith in the freshness of most of their products, but hopefully the BBC gets rotated quickly. At least I got their refrigerated product. Pours black with little head. Nice lacing. Strong coffee aroma. The flavour has a decent tang to it (hops?) with coffee in the aftertaste. Pretty nice.

5/8/08 notes: from bomber. Pours a dark brown with a brown head. Smells strongly of coffee beans and roasts. Flavor features a nice coffee base with bitter toasted notes. Medium thick palate. Light alcohol touch throughout that is still pleasant. Finishes dry, bitter, and of black coffee. Really enjoyable, a smooth porter with a generous coffee edge to it, this is a great beer to relax to at night.
