Pours a dark but translucent cola-brown color with a frothy, beige colored head. It takes a good while for the foam to settle, leaving patchy splotches of fine lace all along the way. The aroma is roasty and chocolaty, with notes of cocoa, mocha, roasted caramel, and hints of smoky malts. Flavors are basically the same, dry chocolate and coffee notes meeting earthy hops and a hint of pungent smoke. The palate leaves a little to be desired, smooth but a little thin for the style. Alcohol is undetectable, lending drinkability. Overall, this is a nicely balanced and well put together porter, but it is lacking any truly exciting features.

(Bottle). Malty caramel aroma. Very dark brown with a fluffy medium tan head. Nice coffee and chocolate flavor, with a slight bitter finish. Body is a little thin, but otherwise a pleasing porter.

Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head and decent lacing. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, and a little toffee. Has a nice roasty, smoky flavor that starts sweet but has a nice bitter hoppy finish. Good porter.

Cask at GBBF 08. Lovely porter. Great american hops. Some good choc. Lovely really. Good awakening alcohol. Rather lovely american grapefruit/lime and choc. I really liked it.

poured a nice brown hue with a tan head. Aroma was a mix of roasted malts, cocoa comes to mind. And a nice smokiness to it. Flavor seemed to have more of this smoke note and a nice cocoa notes to balance it out. Medium body.

Cask at GBBF 08. Murky dark brown with an aroma of roasted malt and evident alcohol. Flavour-wise, it’s got cough candy, brown sugar and caramel malt notes. Decent weight but not a great beer.
