| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Bomber. Pours lightly hazy dark brown with a thick and fluffy tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, nuts, vanilla. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Lots of great little flavor hints in the taste: hazelnuts, chocolate, candi sugar. Just a dash of coffee in the finish. Something about this beer hits me just right. Heathen (810), Riverside, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2007 THOUGHTS: Gift from a co-worker. I wasn’t expecting much after trying their Hefe, but this was really nice. There was just a little something in the flavor that wasn’t quite right. Not a bad thing just not as good as it could have been if that thing wasn’t there.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a very dark brown with red highlights and a large, rocky, off-white to light tan head that mostly lasted and left excellent lacing. The aroma was of moderate roaste, nutty, caramel, mild coffee and a little chocolate malt. The flavor was sweet with just a little hops in the finish with an average duration. The dominant flavors were coffee, chocolate, caramel and roasted malt. The medium body was slightly syrupy and lightly fizzy with a chalky finish. In fact it was a little chalky throughout. hayduke (1690), Eureka, California, USA

Malted and stout-like. Unpasterized and unfiltered fresh bottle from recent Massachusetts trip. Chocolate malt and balanced roastiness. A must-try porter. (Not sure why I bypassed the Olfabrikken tonight, but I figured it was time for a lighter porter). Aroma of roasted malts and a bit of coffee. Flavor is roasty with some coffee and chocolate - thinner body, but very smooth. Nice porter.
