elihapa (407), Hawaii, USA Sep 16, 2008 Poured from bomber bought for $3.50. Pours a dark chocolate brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, licorice, and roasted malt. Flavor is primarily sweet yet roasty, in a good way. In fact, this beer is delicious. Malt dominated, the flavors in this brew create a creamy and well-balanced brew that finishes of baker’s chocolate and coffee. Palate is maybe a tad thin, but it matches the smooth “textures” of this porter. Nice job Berkshire!
jimhilt (1469), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Nov 30, 2008 Draft on-tap at Chandler’s in Deerfield, MA, pours a two-finger light tan head that slowly fades to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Baked chocolate nose. Black color with hints of mahogany. Light-medium carbonation and medium-heavy body. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, cream, moderate hoppy, pine, graoefruity. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - smooth, carbonation is flat. Very nice. (080808) hellbilly (940), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Oct 19, 2008 bomber via dogfish120love. pours a medium brown with some garnet tints and a soft tan head. there’s loads of pillowy lace left behind on the glass. pleasant roasty aroma has notes of milkiness, chocolate and a bit of sourness or astringency. primarily malt flavors with coffee nuttiness, cream, spice and grassy hops with some ashiness on the finish. the aftertaste is the best quality of this beer... soothing caramel and coffee. the body is a touch thin but the creamy carbonation makes up for it. there’s nothing spectacular about it but i would drink this everyday. especially at the price... solid. WeeHeavySD (2031), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bomber, via trade i think. 2 Berkshire beers in a row, the first of two porters in a row. Pours black with a nice tan head. Nose is roasty and malty and slightly burnt. Taste is sweet on one level and bitter on another with some bitter bitter chocolate. This is a good porter, but the palate is less than smooth.
