Commercial Description:
Literally meaning yeast wheat. This light bodied ale pours hazy gold. Flavors of bananas and cloves are derived from our traditional German yeast strain. Our "Hefe" finishes with a slight pleasing tartness which makes it a perfect choice for the warm New England summer. Try it with a lemon wedge! 4.5% (from their website)

I think this one must have been out of code. The folks at BBC make great beers and this was really out of character for a BBC brew. Head disappeared quickly. Seemed a bit flat. Only a faint banana/clove aroma. Tough on the palate. No fruity esters. No smooth light mouthfeel. Tasted like a weak Hefe mixed with a PBR. Will have to try the same beer again and make sure it’s fresh - I can’t bring myself to believe that this one came from Berkshire!

From a 22 oz bottle, this poured a very cloudy butterscotch color with robust white head and very good lacing. Nose of banana, cloves, and citrus. Smooth and clean mouthfeel. Flavor is the same banana, clove, and citrus as the nose with some yeast added. Finish is fruity. Enjoyable.

A clear golden weizen with a thin white head. A light bananas and strawberries in aroma, a bit cloying. In mouth, a rather chalky weizen, with light bananas, light and boring. On tap at Flat Street Pub, Brattleboro, August 2 2009.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured cloudy yellow color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate citrus, clove and banana aroma. Medium body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium smooth sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good session beer.

22 oz. bottle courtesy of Cletus. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma has very light banana, yeast, and citrus. The flavor is light and refreshing and focuses more on citrus than banana. Some spices (clove) are also evident. Overall, a lighter style beer with light flavors. Decent enough on a summer day.

7/02/2009: Berkshire Brewing Co. Hefeweizen Ale tastes more like an American Wheat Ale than a German Hefeweizen. Rather than having the expected banana and clove characteristics, it is more light and yeasty with wheat and lemon. Some soft, spicy notes are evident from the finish from the yeast that was used. A little banana and a hint of clove start to show when the beer warms, but at this point the beer is almost gone! All in all this is a decent brew that is fairly light and quite refreshing.

1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bottle shared by alexsdad06. Thanks! Rating #31 for this beer.

Bomber from Joey. Pours a clear yellow with a frothy white head. Yeasty banana aroma, light not overpowering. Taste is smooth malt, notes of banana, bread yeast, cloves and a touch of brown sugar. Crisp and refreshing, better than I thought it would be.

Draught sampler. Slightly cloudy dirty yellow pour with a tiny thin off white head. Aroma of bananas and yeast. Great taste of yeast, bananas, citrus and cloves. Really enjoyed this one.
