Commercial Description:
Literally meaning yeast wheat. This light bodied ale pours hazy gold. Flavors of bananas and cloves are derived from our traditional German yeast strain. Our "Hefe" finishes with a slight pleasing tartness which makes it a perfect choice for the warm New England summer. Try it with a lemon wedge! 4.5% (from their website)

22oz from ppoitras - thanks, Pete! Very attractive pour, nothing especially distinctive but a translucent gold with modest haze and a nice fluffy head. Mild citrus in the nose with lots of bready yeast. Understated and clean taste, with a bit of spice in the finish. Mostly a very earthy, yeasty rendition of the style. Too thin, but overall enjoyable.

22 oz bottle poured a golden color with streaming carbonation and a white head. aroma has banana yeast, sweet wheat, wet grass, and light spice particularly nutmeg. mouth feel is light with nice high carbonation that carries the beer nicely. flavor has nice flavorful banana yeast, fresh grassy wheat, nice low sweetness, and just a perfect pinch of spice. this tastes extremely fresh and that always helps the style, this was quite enjoyable.

A solid pour into my 25cl tulip glass produces a two-finger thick, pale, just barely tanned, off-white colored head. The beer is a dark gold color that shows a touch of haze and a bright, yellow-gold color when held up to the light. The aroma smells of clove as I pour it, but a closer inspection yields more of a focus on tart, green apple. A touch of grassy grain and some metallic hop notes in the finish round things out before a solid cracker like grain kicks in.

Nicely carbonated this has a pepper carbonic bit and foams a bit as it first hits the tongue. The carbonation seems to carry a flavor of clove with it as this is the most noticeable flavor during the first sip. The beer has a touch of herbal, almost tin-like hop character in the finish as well as a touch of hop bitterness. This beer is very light bodied, even a bit too much to stand up to the ample carbonation. A touch of sweet graininess is present, but only just barely as this is pretty dry. There is also just a touch of cracker like malt character, but not quite as much as the aroma would have suggested. There is a bit of tart fruitiness in the finish that reminds me a bit of pear and green apple.

This is not bad, but fairly bland. It could really use a lot more grain character (both malt and wheat) and if you threw in a decoction or two, well then we would really be talking.

Bomber courtesy of hellbilly. Banana and clove stand out for aroma along with some spice notes. Hazy gold body with white head. Flavor is good dose of banana and chewy. Spice and tart on the finish leaving fruit aftertaste. Filling brew, thanks Joshua.

Pours clear gold into a Weizen. Bright white head recedes to skim surface. Bubblegum and banana aromas. Orange citrus upfront with lasting banana wheat finish.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color weizen with a medium foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma consists of some light banana ester with a huge amount of DMS (overcooked vegetables). Taste is also dominated by some weird overcooked vegetables notes with some light notes of banana. Extremely bad and way off style for me to enjoy. I rarely drain pour beers but this is one that I could not drink the whole bottle.

poured from the bomber a hazy brown shade of yellow with a soft white head. big time aroma of ripe bananas followed by spiciness, grain, earth and a touch of lemon. lots of banana in the flavor as well... this time it combines with vanilla, light yeast, wheat, spiciness and a tart lemon-like finish. as it warms it starts to get a bit harsh and woodsy. so, drink it fast! medium body gets quite soft and creamy as it works to the back of my tongue. as others have said it is a bit of a one trick pony but still quite refreshing.

Super duper banana-y aroma. Sweetish banana flavor. A bit one dimensional, but pleasant drinking. -Hold On- After swirling the bottle vigorously to pull up more yeast the beer takes on a nice bready, brioche like character with light baking spices.
