Commercial Description:
Literally meaning yeast wheat. This light bodied ale pours hazy gold. Flavors of bananas and cloves are derived from our traditional German yeast strain. Our "Hefe" finishes with a slight pleasing tartness which makes it a perfect choice for the warm New England summer. Try it with a lemon wedge! 4.5% (from their website)

Not the best Hefe I have ever had but not bad for the middle of the New England. Visited my girlfriends dad in Mass and came across the Berkshire line of beers and was pretty impressed. Liked the 22oz bottles for the price excellent deal.

22 oz. bottle. Once a year, I empty my refrigerator in the garage, which is normally filled with beer, to store all of our Thanksgiving cooking. Inevitably, I uncover a beer I somehow lost in the fridge. This Hefe is this year’s prodigal son. I competely forgot I bought it last summer and somehow buried it in the fridge. 22 oz. bottle pours a hazy gold with a white head that was gone before I even took my first sip. Pleasant aroma of lemons, freshly mowed grass, and banana. The flavor was a bit more subdued than the aroma with lemon, lime (yes, I’’m thinking sprite) and a bit of banana noted. Mouthfeel was thin and watery. Kind of a dull beer actually.

Bottle: Pours a mostly transparent golden with a frothy, stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet wheat with a touch of spicy clove and estery German yeast. Body starts fairly full and malted wheaty sweet with nice light banana fruitiness and doughy yeasty complexity. Finishes smooth with a touch of German bittering hops. A nice hefeweizen.

THOUGHTS: Gift from a co-worker. Nothing special, but truly refreshing and easy to drink. Nice alternative to a macro on a hot summer day. It might be capable of converting a few macro drinkers. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium to dark yellow that was almost orange at wider sections of the glass. The body was cloudy and it had an average to large foamy, white heat that left fair lacing that almost looked like crystal but that sunk quickly back into the beer. The aroma was moderate dough and earthy yeast along with wheat and lemon. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, acidic and sour, while the finish was moderately sweet and acidic with a short duration. The flavor was nice but too watered down. There was lemon, wheat and just a touch of banana in the finish. The light body was mostly watery, but also dry with soft carbonationa and a chalky and light to moderate astringent finish.

Pours hazy golden with small head for the style. Vanilla, bananas, lite citrus, wheat ceral on the nose. Lighter bodied, cerals and wheat predominate the taste, with a touch of banana and light souring citrus fruits. A little watery but not bad and a decent refresher on a hot day.

Pours gold with a head that dissipates pretty quickly. Aroma is more citrus and less banana than some hefe’s. Mouth feel is very thin. Flavor is citrus, a bit of yeast and some sour notes. Not as flavorful as some of the German Hefeweizens, but still goes down easy.

Bottle. Pours less than typically cloudy with a yellow gold hue and a normal sized soft white head. Nose is sweet with bananas. Mouthfeel is near creamy (a smidge thin) with continuation of ripe bananas with a hint of sour in the finish. I thought this was really very good and will be getting some more to be enjoying another time.
