Nov 12, 2007 Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet spicy with notes of roasted malt, as well as lighter notes of vegetables and ginger. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of roasted malt, lending it a slight acidity and hints of bourbon. The alcohol burns in the throat.

I can barely be bothered typing up notes for this. It’s virtually identical to the Coffee Porter except with some more body. The flavour is certainly better, but not by enough to get excited. Mainly caramel maltiness with a hint of apple peel. Some faint wood and vanilla in the finish but erm... yeah, that’s it.

Dec 2, 2005 22oz bottle acquired in trade with jjpm74 (thanks!). Bottle labeled buy before Nov. Poured a dark, dark brown (almost black) color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, dark fruits and a little on the earthy side. Tastes of light coffee, prunes, chocolate, and roasted malts. I found this to be weak for an Imperial Stout but overall a good beer.
