Bottle… O-Town Christmas Gathering ‘07… Cloudy caramel-colored ale with orange highlights and a small, creamy, off-white head. Great retention. Sweet bourbon and vanilla nose with lesser notes of caramel and toffee. Medium to full-bodied with restrained carbonation. The woodsy, vinous flavor features medium sweet-caramel and lightly bitter sourmash. Not overly boozy. Finishes sweet and earthy. Kudos to CaptainCougar for providing the samples!

Courtesy CaptainCougar. Pours a mostly clear, dark cola color with a small, frothy, cream colored head. Minimal micro-dots of lacing are noticeable. The aroma is very strange, and unlike any Scotch Ale that I’ve encountered to date. I picked up very creamy, dark caramel, some dark fruits, and a weird, minty bubblegum component. The flavor leans more towards a traditional Scotch, with smoky, creamy caramel malts being the dominant element. I detected little to no bourbon, which was surprising. Medium bodied and relatively smooth, but lacking punch. Decent brew, but nothing special.

Tasted at Logan’s house with Logan and deftim13. Rare bottle from Tim. Thanks! Very mellow. Buttery oaky oak aging characteristics. Bourbon is difficult to notice. Leans a hair sweet. No oxidation. Nice.

Courtesy CaptainCougar. Pours amber brown color with little head. Smoky malt with a touch of caramel sweetness. Sweet vanilla, smoky malt taste a little thin. Not a real knockout.

Courtesy CaptainCougar. Pours a cloudy light caramel brown, with just the smallest off white bubbly head. The aroma is of pretty big caramel, alot of dark sweet malt, butterscotch, light bourbon, and maybe some vanilla as well. The flavor is actually quite smooth. The bourbon is definitely noticeable, but not overpowering, and easily drinkable. The caramel and dark fruits were a nice compliment, but the smoothness is what made this pretty tasty and enjoyable.

clear dark brown, wispy beige head, streaks of drippy lace, sweet bourbon and dark caramel aroma with a nice vanilla character balanced by the oak, sweet sticky body, sweet bourbon flavor enhanced by the vanilla and balanced by the oak, dark caramel comes in from the back to add the scotch character, light earthyness,

Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin, frothy light tan head. Aroma of rich oaky fresh bourbon with a touch of sweet caramel malt. Starts a little thinner than expected with a good sweetness and oaky, earthy bourbon character with a mild bitterness toward to peaty, smoky finish. Warmer bourbon complexity thoughout. A decent BA Scotch ale.
