Commercial Description:
This special ale is full bodied with an amber/ruby hue. The ruby color is achieved from using a 1/2lb. of fresh raspberries per gallon of beer. This seasonal has a rich malty character with balanced hop bitterness and finishes with a potent berry taste. At 9% v/v, this strong ale is overflowing with flavor.

This beer is labeled as a barley wine! The label looks just like the one shown here but it says barleywine instead of strong ale. It has got to be one of the strongest fruit beers I’ve ever tasted. Acquired in a trade with RCL. Very tart raspberry aroma. Attractive reddish orange appearance. It is mouthwatering before you taste it. Medium bubbly alky brew slaughters the palate. Decent carbonation for a BW. Strongish kick ass flavors. Difficult at times. Dull raspberry indication. Quite unique. Thanks for the chance to taste this unique brew. Ray, I owe you one.

22 oz botttle. Pours a clear beautiful cranberry color with a 1/2" white head. Random lacing coats my glass thru to the end. Nose is raspberrys and slight alcohol. Palate is medium with moderate carbonation . Flavor is a nice light flavor of raspberrys and some chocolate . Also some maltly flavors and just enough alcohol to remind you that this is a 9% brew. Very good effort from Berkshire.

Pours a clear ruby with a slight amount of light tan head. Nose is like syrupy chewing gum. And raspberries too of course. The flavor carries a sweet and even raspberry flavor that is firm but not overpowering by any means. But the fruit doesn’t stay as the only definition of the brew. Feel is syrupy on the tongue with a decent level of bubble hitting you as well. I love the fruit beers and think this one is spot on. Very much worth trying and I am glad I brought this one back from my trip to Boston.

clear dark red, fine white head, light tart raspberry aroma, sweet raspberry flavor on a nice but non descript malt backbone, all about the raspberry but it’s well balanced between the sweet and tart

Very good - Its no RUBEAUS (Founders) but very tasty nonetheless. Just enought Rasberry to make it fruity, but has a strong malty beer taste as well. Very refreshing

22 pz. bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a thin off-white head that disappeared before the glass was half empty. Very nice aroma of raspberries. The flavor was raspberries nicely balanced with some caramel. The raspberries were not overpowering as in some other fruit beers and definitely tasted like real fruit. Some hops bitterness at the finish. The alcohol was very well hidden as there was no bite to speak of. Overall very nice.

Bottle. Pours a dingy, lighter raisin color with a thin head. Nose is dried raisins, but a little off. The raspberry flavor is not fresh, but seems to continue with the dried fruit theme. Not enought sweetness, but a tad tart actually. I was expecting more of a robust raspberry flavor, but rather it was muted, dry and overall fair at best.

bomber via trade, with someone fairly recently and yet I cannot remember who, maybe jjpm74. Pours Orange with a 4 giner pale white head that is slighlty pink. The nose is very raspberry but nothing like raspberry tart. The taste is off, sweet and tart and sour and a bit strange. I’ll see how I feel about it before putting in my actual numerical rating. It grows on you, not as good as some but decent.
