Hazy orangey gold, with a thick white head. Aroma is big and malty, with a strong raspberry scent. Hops are nonpresent. Flavor starts off sweet and malty with the raspberry kicking in towards the middle and finishing with a mild alcoholic bite. The raspberry is just amazing with the massive pale malt flavor. Body is impressive, providing a heaviness in the mouth, similar to coffee. I love heavy beers like this. Makes an excellent winter warmer. Surprisingly and dangerously drinkable. Taste is of rasberries with elements of cane sugar and a hint of raisins. Strong alcohol finish. One of the best offerings from this brewery to date. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Pours a clear ruby with a slight amount of light tan head. Nose is like syrupy chewing gum. And raspberries too of course. The flavor carries a sweet and even raspberry flavor that is firm but not overpowering by any means. But the fruit doesn’t stay as the only definition of the brew. Feel is syrupy on the tongue with a decent level of bubble hitting you as well. I love the fruit beers and think this one is spot on. Very much worth trying and I am glad I brought this one back from my trip to Boston.

The taste is a real charmer - the raspberry comes thru boldly but is not overwhelming. It is malty sweet, and could have a little wheat in it. It is a little like a wine cooler, but without the vinous sourness. It escapes the problems of other fruit brews, like not enough flavor or too much sourness. It might be the first raspberry ale I have tried. This is a very fine fruit beer, an original effort, and moderately priced, too - thanks, BBC! DYCSoccer17 (2201), Davis, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 26, 2005 Aroma is of raspberries with sour citric notes and a small barnyard funk. Not an overpowering fake aroma, though. Mostly transparent ruby color with a small fine delicate light tan head. Ooooooh...this is NOT your "typical" fruit beer. Finding atypical fruit beers is what makes the category my favorite. Fizzy sour astringent notes are noticed immediately followed by a perfect harmony of chocolate maltiness and raspberry flavor. Finishes bitter with notes of the darkest chocolate you can imagine. This is a raspberry and chocolate lover’s delight!! Hopistotle420 (1178), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA

All raspberry, light woodiness. Herbal bitter hops, medium velvety body. Surprisingly drinkable, although its almost too sweet. I like it a little better warm. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 29, 2008 Ruby tinted amber beer with a creamy tan head. Aroma is quite fruity with loads of bright raspberry aroma. Some very light raspberry tartness and lots of juicy fruity character. Warming brings up some lean sweet malts. There’s not a lot of character malts or crystal in here, just lots of sweet pale malt and fresh raspberry character. As it warms up it really starts to come together, with a light bit of chocolate, sweet malts and tart raspberries. Lightly tart and quite a nice brew. It has some of the qualities of KRE, but dialled down a lot. Regardless it works very well. Volgon (2490), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 23, 2003 Pours a dark murky orange with a small head. Sweet raspberry aroma that dominates. Starts and ends sweet, but as the beer warms the sweetness mellows out a bit. I can't picture this being an everyday drinker, but it is a nice beer when you want something different.
