500ml bottle from the beer section, 6th floor of KaDeWe. Deep, near rosewood body. Fading, beige head. Modest aroma of semi-sweet malts. Flavoured with liquorice malts, figs and dark fruits. Tart fruity ending. Masked alcohol. Soft carbonated. Satisfying (hotel room, Berlin 24.11.2009).

Bottle 50cl. @ home.
Clear dark red brown color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is roasted, burnt brown sugar, berry acidic, cold coffee notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily and sticy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. This beer has nice notes, caramel, slighty woody and roasted with a sweet and alcohol-whisky end. The head ist not really staying more than 2 minutes then the beer looks flat, Carbonation is nice and enjoyable. This is a nice everyday Bock beer, was expecting much worse from Berliner Kindl, just dont have that little something that makes it special, so 13 overall.

50cl bottle. Dark brown, near black, frothy pale head. Smooth, vanilla esque nose, little roastiness, pretty dry and simple. Roasty, slightly vinous licorice flavor, ash and salmiak in the sourish finish, kinda tangy overall. Almost medium bodied, average carbonated palate. A lame dunkler bock.

Bottled. Deep amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is licorice, roasted malts, caramel malts as well as some fudge. Flavour is hops, mild notes of fudge and quite much dark dry fruits.

Bottled (BB 10/2009). Thanks austone! Dark brown color, small creamy beige head. Chocolaty caramelly aroma, maybe slightly metallic when beer is gold, also grassy hoppy (hop extract used!). Caramelly, grassy hoppy flavor. Quite soft palate. Toasted sweetish aftertaste. Standard bock, nothing to talk about.

Bottle 0,5 l. Darker red brown, beigish small head. Nose has nail polish remover, alcohol, banana and some maltiness. Maybe some berries. Flavor is a bit alcoholic, sweetish with some banana esters and berries. Low roastiness and some faint bitterness. Not a complete winner, have had much better ones.

Deep reddish brown, almost black beer with a creamy/fizzy but completely vanishing head. Moderate chocolate/liquorice aroma with faint scotch and bubblegum notes. Nice warm flavours of coffee and toffee; fine roasted malt and an acidic touch in the finish. Medium bitterness. It smells as if it would be sweet but that’s not the case. All in all, it could use a little more complexity but the flavours come out good. I’ll have that one again when I’m back to Germany.
