The aroma is sweet with quite a lot of wheat, but also a slight acidity. The flavor is acidicly fresh with notes of grapefruit. The acidity draws out some mouthwater. But it also has light notes of wheat. A very refreshing beer. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Aroma is citrus, light hop note, sour, vinegar. Body is slightly hazy gold, no head. Taste is tart, with a bit of a grapefruit-esque tang to it, along with lemon zest. Interesting. Palate is too fizzy. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Pours a thin snow white head and a hazy golden body. A bit fusty aroma with some wheat and caramel and a lack of sourness (though the bb date wasn’t expired). More sourness in the flavor, like a mild lemon juice with obvious wheaty notes. Thin bodied of course. Maybe past its prime and not as good as I remember Schultheiss was!! cbkschubert (2027), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 14, 2006 via trade with IrishBoy - Pours a golden color with a good size white head that faded pretty quick. Has a soapy aroma. Has a tart lemon flavor. Light to medium body. I know very little about this style of beer. I would never buy this beer. I’m glad I tried it though. Thanks Richard. Lemony finish. Medium-light body, mild bitterness. Winking Lizard, Cleveland. Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 12, 2006 With woodruff. Dull jade color that reminded my wife of Christmas candies she used to eat as a kid. Even with the woodruff sweetening the beer, sourness still poked through with some slight acidity and sharp tartness. There was a lot of lacing but I don’t know if that was contributed by the beer or the syrup. My guess is the latter. The woodruff wasn’t overwhelming and added what I would describe as a sweet, green apple aftertaste. The finish was dry and left my mouth feeling like cotton. yayforbeer (648), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 11, 2006 330ml bottle. Hazy pale straw golden beer with a fizzy white head that drops away to a lasting ring. Mild aroma of musty malt and lemon. Flavor is very sour, watery tart lemon and faint wheat in the background. Not much sweetness or bitterness. Interesting but only as a novelty. Not something I could drink more than one of in a sitting. Seems to be well made, but not a style of my liking, I much prefer the standard German Hefeweizens. GregClow (2516), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 1, 2006 Bottle shared with jerc - his bottle. My first Berliner Weisse rating! Too bad it was a bit of a let-down. Pours a clear light golden colour with a small head. Like Jer, I was expecting my nose and taste buds to get a kicking from this, but we were let down. Aroma is mild, with notes of white wine, lemon and tart apple juice. Flavour is similar, with just a hint of the bracing tartness I was expecting coming through in the finish. Body is thin, bland. Maybe we got a dud bottle? I dunno, but I’m gonna need to try another example of the style at some point, as this was a disappointment.
