Pours a clean and clear gold with a small foamy white head that mostly diminishes. Aroma is sour and tart, malt (meal, hay) and yeast (grass, earth, sweat) and slight perfumey floral hops. Medium tart and acidic, no bitterness, finish is clean. Light and clean body, refreshing palate. LibraryBrewer (50), Goodridge, Minnesota, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Clear color with a hint of straw at best. The head was clear and fast.Nearly no aroma at all and what was there was citrusy.Flavor was acidic and sour with a bit of a bite at the end.I like it but it needs syrup to make it more palateable JMO. eaglefan538 (2363), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 3, 2006 Updated: Aug 10, 2008No, I wasn’t happy with this one. Finding out how much I don’t think I like the style, I just can’t rate it within style. This stuff started with a great pour, a nice head and with bubbles rising vigorously to the top of the weizen glass. But the aroma was of apple cider, apple juice, and lemon juice all mixed up and blended with some hay. The flavor was similar and it was sour. Not as harsh as lambics, but way to ruin a wheat beer. An interesting sampling, but not a style I’ll come back to. Re-rate, 8/08, in a horizontal against DFH Peche, 1809, and Bahnhof. Bottle courtesy of IrishBoy via an 07 trade. Original rating stands, although I didn’t think I would ever return to it, heh. Honey was pretty strong in there with the other tart fruit elements. Last of the four side by side even within style! ancherrera (161), Cape Coral, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2006 light colored and extremely effervescent. large quickly dissipating head. Tastes VERY tart with lemon/lime flavors. Might not even guess it was beer in a blind taste test. Very refreshing. This is my first Berlkiner Weiss and I never expected it to taste like this. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2006 From 33cL Bottle, served neat. Pours a rich, clear brassy hue with a thin layer of white foam that quickly scatters. I can’t believe I just poured a beer into a margarita glass, but I don’t exactly have too many drinking bowls lying around the house. Curiously sour aroma of cream of wheat breakfast cereal garnished with fresh parsley. Rather peculiar, but in a pleasing kind of way. A thin, crisply carbonated mouthfeel with an almost buggy sourness thats blended with cornmeal instantly greet the tongue. This is followed by flavors of diet 7up served with a squeeze of lime. My first attempt at this style, and I’m glad I give this particular one a go. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | May 24, 2006 anybody that has been to berlin has probably tried these. we went to the store around the corner from our hotel and picked these up. they were very inexpensive...2-3$ for a six pack. not really beerish imo. only 2.7%. very effervesence and lemony, tart, slight wheatness here. good and refreshing. later we found out this is the beer that is most often flavored with the cherry and lime that you find around town. a must try when in the region. different. thornecb (1770), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 19, 2006 Pours a hazy gold into a tumbler. Slight head skims the surface and rim. Spicy lemon rind aromas. Lemony tart and refreshing with very lively palate. Finish is quite abrupt and bitter lemon with a little malt. It seems like this beer is brewed to style -- not sure why people rate so low if this is exactly to style. Ah, well. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 19, 2006 330 ml bottle. Light golden crystal clear in color with a quickly fading fizzy head. Aromas were faint asparagus and very similar to BMC. The flavor is really pretty good. Very sour and yet very clean. Well... no... there really is no flavor. But the sourness is not bad. Hmmm.. hard to describe like an unflavored sour. The sourness is nice, and the flavor is not bad? I don’t know. But i like it the way it is, No Syrup needed I say. Confused? Try it yourself!!!
