The flavour is very sour and only because it is cold does it become drinkable. Overall a poor beer that tastes a bit like vinegar. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 2, 2006 12 oz bottle, via fordest. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a soapy white head that faded to a thin covering quickly. Aroma is tart with a little Grannie Smith apple, yeast, wheat, a little bit of rotting garbage, and some citrus. Flavor is a rather puckering tartness up front followed by an extremely dry palate cleansing finish. I like how the flavor starts out, but at the take end of the finish there is an odd lingering coppery tinge that I don’t find very pleasant. Some light wheat does sneak past the tartness just to remind you that this is in fact a wheat beer. Mouthfeel is light and the spritzy carbonation really does make this a good palate cleanser and refreshing beverage overall. Overall, while I enjoyed the novelty of the style, I would like to try a few more examples to get a better feel as to the range of quality out there. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2006 Light yellow gold cloudiness hue, with an off-white head, yeasty and whaety accents, fruity notes of lemon and sour green apples, with a hint of tartness in the aroma follows through on a light-bodied acidic palate, with a nice acidity and sourness character, with a zesty citrus fruits note, hint of tartness, leading towards a good cutting edge sourness finish. I very like this beer! vyvvy (2059), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2006 Pours clear yellow with minimal head. Aroma has sweet and sour aspects. First taste (pre-syrup) is very sour and tart. The tartness is very reminiscent of a gueze. Taste with syrup (green variety that come with the six pack) is still sour, but with a sweetness that makes the beer seem much more crisp and refreshing. This is a very nice beer. But the cost makes it a very tough sell. This could be a very nice summertime thirst quencher, but at almost $14 a six pack I don’t think I’ll be getting more than this. Worth trying. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 11, 2006 One of the last steps in my completing all 70 styles. Unfortunately, the last are this style and lambics, all of sound disgusting. I was dreading this beer but couldn’t pass up an opportunity to try one. I warned my drinking posse about the weirdness of the style, and when I was pouring out the bottle everyone confused somebody’s fart for the smell of the beer. It was pale gold in color. Smelled kind of like an old Corona. On first sip I was shocked to find it was not as nasty sour as i was expecting. It reminded me most of an acidic saison but without all the bret. I poured the raspberry syrup shot into it and didn’t notice much difference at first. The deeper into the glass I got the sweeter and more balanced this beer got and it was actually somewhat good. I’d still like to try another but in my opinion it doesn’t taste all that great and it’s so low in alcohol that’s not enjoyable or will mess you up.
