Since Napoleon invaded Berlin some 200years ago Berliner Weisse seems to have the nick "Berlin Champagne" (not sure the reference was made to the same beer) ... Berliner Kindl is the bigger of the two big Berlin breweries, their Weisse has a hoppy smell and tastes somewhat like tangerines kept in a saucer full of fresh lemon juice and apple vinegar .... mix it with woodruff of rasberry syrup and you have the perfect drink for a summer afternoon ...

My first Berliner weisse. Cloudy honey-colden pour with a carbonated clinger. Very carbonated lemon and vinegar with a sour bite. Certainly a tarty treat.

Green’s Beverage - Atlanta, Ga. - .33 litre bottle. First try of of this style. Light, golden appearance, with a thin white head and excellent bubble action. Very aromatic with hints of vinegar, mown grass and lemon. Flavor has a pleasant sourness to it that sits very well. Finally realize what I think horseblanket is, as I can taste it in this. Very akin to a gueze. Not a style I will seek out - but glad I tried it.

Bottle BB 03.07. Pale golden pour with little head... but lotsa carbonation rising. Aroma is sour with lemon and wheat, and was somewhat vegetal... really weird, but right on for the style. Very ripe apples, lemon, and a wheaty backing in the flavor. Tart and powerfully dry on the palate and finish. Quite refreshing. This was a surprising treat, and I think I need to find more examples of the style.

Pours pale yellow with a fully receding white head. Aroma is sour, smells somewhat like a bad lager. It’s not offensive, but it’s also not pleasant. Tastes absolutely nothing like it smells. Quite sour and tart. Not unpleasant but also quite unusual. Finishes acidic and dry. Definately not used to anything like this.

(bottle) Pale yellow colour with a small white head, quickly vanishing. Very fruity (citrus, apples) and wheaty aroma. Sour flavour, light bodied, thin textured, lively carbonated. Refreshing tart & fruity taste with a lasting finish, apple and wheat dominated. A good Berliner Weisse, but I prefer the one brewed by Schultheiss.

Pour is light hazy yellow with a big fast fading off white head...definately lemon, wheat, and wet cardboard in the nose...maeib said meaty...I have to agree...taste is tart with apple and lemon...definately sour...not as bad as everyone says...finish is a little sticky and glue like though...

Served in a tulip glass over raspberry syrup, probably emulating the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/berliner-kindl-w Kindl Weiss Mit Schuß Him-Beere. It was worth a try. I may re-rate without additives... I may not.

Ahem... HOT-PINK with a thoroughly pink head. Aromas were very-berry, with lactose notes. Like ice cream or heavily syruped pancakes. Starts moderately sweet, ends with a sour berry finish. As served, it’s good as a dessert beer.
