Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. First time I tried this it was way to sour. But after I finished the bottle, I realized I’d found my new summer thrist quencher. This beer pours a cloudy bright gold/yellow color. Aroma is mildly wheaty with a sour presence. The taste is a thrist quenching sour/dry. Almost like a champagne. It is hard to describe, either you like it or you don’t. I love it. fiver29 (365), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Sep 24, 2008 Bottle pours a clear light golden color with a thin white head. Aroma has a strong wheat character with a twang. The twang is a slight sour note. Mouthfeel is very thin and has a stinging to it as well because of the very high carbonation. Flavor is very acidic, bready, wheat, honey, and has a tart flavor on the finish. The tart flavor that this beer has is in the background more and in the finish than in the flavors upfront. It is a slight tart flavor that is somewhat unusual at first, but I get accustomed to as I drink it. Overall not a bad brew. Just wouldn’t be a regular for me if I had the choice. jhagmar (110), Gothenburg, Sweden Sep 21, 2008 Bottle 33 cl, thanks ekstedt. Light yellow, hazy, with white head. Refreshing aroma of citrus, honey, hints of beetroot and gastric juices(!). Refreshingly sour. Prickly carbonation. Ethereal (927), London, Greater London, England Aug 24, 2008 330ml bottle at The Red Baron restaurant, Berlin Tegel airport, 22nd August 2008. Pours a hazy golden amber with a diminishing white head. I found the aroma pretty unpleasant - herbs and earth/clay/plaster dust. However the taste is rather interesting, being exceedingly sour. The waitress recommended I had it in the local style, which is mixed with a fruit juice. I’ll have to try that next time, but this time I wanted to try it plain. The wheat character lacks the spiciness of a traditional hefe-weisse. Here you just have sourness and a delicate wheat flavour with just a hint of peach perhaps. The palate is light too and with the low alcohol content, this is very refreshing to drink. Overall, very interesting and worth trying if you see it.
