Strong black lager. It's a special dark lager produced from five types of malt with a striking full flavour and light bitterness. Its special flavour makes it unique on the Czech beer market.

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark brown body with a smallish, ivory-colored head. Smell: A welcome chocolaty nose with notes of simple syrup layered over golden raisins with a background hint of roast malt. Taste: Sweet dark maltiness imparts tastes of dark caramel and cocoa powder. Again, there’s just a very minor roast character. Raisin fruitiness. Light touch of licorice. Mild herbal, spicy hops and bitterness. Additional chocolate flavor on the drying finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: As it’s flavorful yet remains light and relatively low in alcohol, for once, the idea of a Weekend at Bernie’s doesn’t sound so bad. Quite a nice dark lager, actually. I’ll admit to being a bit hesitant towards these odd imports from remote places in Eastern Europe, but I’ll cheerfully try any other Bernard products in the future.

Swingtop in trade with Th...Br...Som... woo hoo! Thanks Matt! A soft dunkel that has a decent push behind it. Creamy chocolat and earth emerge as swingtop is popped. Pours a dark dark brown with an oily active expanding head. MMM-MMM! Roasted malt tone is surrounded by light malts and chocolate. Faint tones of plums wxist in corners. An even determined fish. This is one of the gems I missed on my trip this summer. Very nice.

Dark brown with reddish hues and a lasting beige head. Roasted malt, caramel and dark fruit. Smooth and lingering bitter finish.

Dark brown (nearly black) color. Very weak , small, fading frothy head - Maybe i warmed up too quickly to the right temperature... Mild, sweet roasted coffee, black chocolate in the aroma. Medium bodied with lively, fizzy carbonation. Roasted, dry malty taste. Extra dry, long roasted aftertaste.

A 13% extrakt- és 5,1% alkoholtartalmú barnasör – némi túlzással – a cseh sörfőzés kvintesszenciája: igazi fekete szín, ami a szokatlanul tartós habon is meglátszik, telt malátaíz, nagyon karakteres, harapós, hosszan lecsengő kesernyésség. Igazi, férfiaknak való ital.

500 ml bottle. Finland. Dark brown colour. Nothing spectacular. Very basic Czech Dunkel. I did not catch the special flavour that makes it unique.
