mullet (763), Melbourne, Australia Sep 16, 2007 Updated: Sep 17, 2007At Uncle Paya, Plzeň’s one-stop shop for pancakes, weed and great beer. Had some of this with motelpogo and it was so good I had to go back by myself for a bit more. It’s a bit more orange than most Czech beers, and only the tiniest bit of haze. Distinct fresh hop aroma, which is fairly unusual in the world of Czech beers - Kout excepted, of course, but this is a bit more integrated and a bit less fresh/raw than Kout’s stuff. Flavour is very orangey, with very firm, juicy malt and a touch of apricot nectar. Vaguely sulfurous side taste, but it’s hardly prominent. Finishes salty and slightly bitter. Quite close to a regular filtered 12% but with just a bit more added freshness from the yeast. Very impressive stuff. coldbrewky (489), Saugerties, New York, USA Jun 1, 2008 Draft with montelpogo at Uncle Paya in Plzen. With all this talk of unfilterd lagers rambling about in my head before my latest trip to the Czech republic, I realy was surprised to find that these unfilterd brews are realy just partially hazy as compared to the Belgian unfiltered products that I have had in the states. This pratle aside, I found the chance to be towed about Plzen with montelpogo a rare chance to enjoy this beer. This lovely semi hazy amber brew is topped by a large frothy oily head that settles fast. The nose is yeasty and hints of limes and blood oranges. the Medium body is sweet and finishes with a peppery grassiness. This beer goes down smoothly but leaves your mouth aching for more, a very pleasant tartness lingered and then was taken over by the well balanced malts. We moved on after one since Koutland awaited. a gem. ekstedt (1792), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 4, 2008 Draught at Uncle Paya, Plzen. Deep hazy golden with medium white head.
