On tap at the Bethlehem Brew Works Brew Pub. Poured a dark reddish brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of roasted malts, light toffee, and light peat lurking in there as well.

Very nice foamy beige head tops the clearish burgundy body. Candyish and very earthy nose. Mild peatiness lends a certain deepness to the malt profile. Caramel, soy and soil work hands in hands. Bready overtones aptly cover the earthiness on the palate. Pretty rich malt, grapey and slightly smoky. Very good stuff. Thanks Erica!

The Lure:
Enticing caramel and toffee smoke pulls the nose closer into the growler to find an able roasted malt. Wealth lives within.

The Festivities:
Decent roastiness spikes the caramel malt. Fruitiness diversifies the rotund body. This achieves a full malt exposure without ever being cloying or too heavy.

Transcendence:
For a grandfather in the Highlands, a regular meal is a hearty meal.

Sample from growler at the Ratebeer Mondial gathering, chateau de tiggmtl. Dark maple-walnut color, near-opaque, hint of foamy ring and mere touch of lace...smoky charcoal, caramel, burnt sugar in the substantial nose, lovely example of style...body doesn’t hold to the standard set in the aroma though, rather watery, some nice caramel malts and chocolate and vanilla lend it a decent flavor profile, but ultimately it doesn’t measure up.

Caramel, toffee, candy-like sweetness and perhaps a whiff of smoke in the aroma. Opaque brown body with amber highlights is topped by a low, off-white head that diminishes to partial cover and ring. Chocolate, plums, caramel and toffee flavours up front are chased by a roasty bitterness. Some odd spiciness in the finish. Medium body feels syrupy due to low carbonation at first but follows through to a dry, roasty finish. Growler sampled at the Ratebeer Mondial Gathering 2005.
