Commercial Description:
The King of all stouts, Imperial stout was originally brewed by English brewers for export to the Baltic sea and Russia. Said to be a favorite of the Russia royal court. Brewed with Chocolate and roasted malts, Blast furnace has a sweet malt flavor backed by a solid hop bitterness to balance it out. At 8.5% this is a sipping beer to be enjoyed in a snifter glass.

On tap at the BBW as part of the sampler. Pours a deep black with a medium size creamy dark tan head that left some lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, some chocolate and caramel. Flavor had lots of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, kind of on the sweet side and not much in terms of hops in the flavor or aroma.

Dark, blackish pour with a roasty-chocolate aroma. Taste was nice and chocolatey with some coffee thrown in, but didn’t seem as smooth or well balanced as most good Impy stouts. A bit thin – not bad.

As advertised, you really can pull out chocolate and roasted malts from this imperial. It has a nice pour with a deep, almost black color, and thin, appropriate head. The aroma was up front, but lacked depth of the ingredients within. The taste was discernably different over various area of your palate, as long as you put it there. The palate was not as complex in depth or length as one would or should expect from an imperial stout. Nonetheless, I still highly recommend a try of this, especially at 8.5% ABV, just let it warm a bit.

This was awesome. It was deep black and had wonderful notes of chocolate, espreso, and oaked smoke....killer!

Almost black with a small dark brown head. Notes of burnt malt, caramel, bitter espresso, and chocolate, but without great depth or intensity.

On tap at the BBW. Poured a dark brown color (almost black) and a small sized tan head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, light smoke and some dark fruits. Tastes of chocolate, caramel, prunes, and raisins. Medium sweet.
