Commercial Description:
Medium amber with a faint salmon hue. Ripe raspberry and wildflower nose. A very tart entry leads to a medium-to full-bodied palate with mouth-puckering raspberry, mild hops, and sour lambic-like flavors. Finishes with a tongue-drying berry seed note. A solid domestic interpretation of the style.

Dark reddish-brown; sour brown ale is prevelant; nougat accents, then it gets a little bit sweeter as the raspberry kicks in.

Sampled courtesy of dickinsonbeer. Poured a deeper and cloudy amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of brett, cherry pie filling, raspberries and light leather. I could smell this all night long. Tastes of tart and sour cherries, raspberries, and brett. Flavor a bit of a let down compared to the awesome aroma. Definitely better than the listed ratings from ’03.

Hand-bottle sampled on 8/9/06: Pours a cloudy copper ruby with a nicely-lacing off-white head. Aroma has a good, earthy, fruity tart funkiness and some cheesy notes. Body starts with semi-sweet, earthy fruity tart raspberry flavor turning more dry and funky toward a lingering fruity finish. An enjoyable fruit lambic.

Cloudy and hazy dark orange/rust/brown colored body. Mild mixed fruit (oranges, melon, generic berry) and lactic yogurt nose. Lightly sweet up front with some strange wood, stem and vegetal notes... over the middle and especially in the back this turns towards an unwelcome dog food, damp bread and sour caramel malt flavor. Finish is an unbearable soiled bread and wet dog hair. Terrible aftertaste.

Poured a hazy amber color with a thin off-white head. Nice wild yeast aroma of leather and horse funk. Good balance of tart fruit. The flavor matched the aroma with tartness and a light sweetness. Fruity with mild notes of leather. Tasty with the acidity in decent balance.
