ive consumed hundreds of these, mostly in bottles. its a fruity golden ale that the brewer says is reminicent of a true "canadian ale" from back in the seventies. truth be told its not terrible and drinks fine in place of most pale lagers. id avoid it in bottles but its worth a tick however you come across it.

Bottle [341ml] shared with the gang at ’WaterlooWeekend Oct.’09’ -- c/o tupalev. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small diminishing white head. Aroma of grain, sweet honey, some fruit and a hint of hops. Watery flavour, not much there, some grain, hops and...meh. Average bodied. A dull, boring beer but clean at least.

(bottle ( 341ml ). shared by tupalev at October 2009 WaterlooWeekeHazy gold, average creamy/frothy head. Weak aroma - apple skins, dry grain, vague floral and heathery. Taste - just okay - grainy, honey-sweet, slightly bitter .... soft mouthfeel, thick and a bit sugary, quick finish and no linger to speak of - okay.

341ml bottle, thanks Matt7215. Golden yellow, small white head. Grainy aroma with a lot of fruit and honey sweetness. Taste is very mineral like, some hops and a lot of fruity malt. Jessee - I got exactly what you got: Grand River Pils! Weird! Very nice hoppy finish but diluted by water. Not bad really, clean and fresh tasting.

341ml bottle thanks to matt7215, thanks Matt. Pours a gold with tiny white head. The aroma is odd, a blend of sweet lager-like cereal grains and citrusy fruit esters, some hop tinge to it as well, interesting. The flavour is very sweet, almost identical to the Grand River Hannenberg Pils I had an hour ago? WTF? Weird. Not bad though, basically just your standard well crafted Canadian cream ale. Bitter is a poor classification IMO. Not much hop activity going on which is kind of a let down, but over-all well done.

[2017-20090222] 341mL bottle. Fruity base aroma with grainy cigarette ashtray and weird veggie notes. Clear, yellow body with a quick bubbly white head. Watery grains flavour has a mild cherry fruit background and weird wet malt. Medium body. Seems off but could be like that normally.

Bottle from the brewery, obtained a few days ago. A bit of moldy smell and in fact taste. Very basic beer, not too drinkable. Pale yellow with a minimal white head. A bit watery, though not the worst in that department. Moldy taste left mouth after a while.

Bottle from the brewery- Pours a sparkling, slightly copper, golden liquid, beneath a frothed, but short lived foam. Nice grainy nose with a fresh cut grass type pungency, lemon zest and a dough contingent. The flavour profile is straight up sweet grains with some bready, fruity malts. Nice lemon zest component near the finish, with nice puckering astringency. Not sure why this is labeled a bitter.

Bottle-Pours sparkling gold with a one finger white head. Not much lace. Aromas are faintly vegetal with a suprisingly good amount of malt, faint hops, grass. Taste is slightly sweet, herbal/hay, bread. Pretty good up until the buttery finish. At least it finished quick. Thanks J to tha Iz-on!
