Wow thanks eagle. Poured a dark redish color with okay head and not much lacing. Aroma was lots of brety and vinous, some dark fruits cherry mostly in there. Flavor was much the same, with some oak and spices in there. Wow eagle told me alcohol % very well hidden. Solid beer again love this series.

Dec 4, 2009 750ml, pours hazy red with white head around the rim. Nose of sour cherry, oak, and slight vinegar character. Flavors are balsamic vinager, earthy sour cherries, sweet sugary malt body. Thin body, tasty but nothing to set it apart from other sour reds.

Dec 4, 2009 750ml bottle from Andrew once again... Pours a medium reddish caramel braown with a thin off-white head... Apple vinegar and brown sugar nose, seems very acidic.... Flavors begin slightly tart and then mellows out to a kind of tart mellow sweetness with some sweeter brown sugar malt. Dull and earthy with tart-like cherry and oak accents. Otherwise not too impressed.

Nov 26, 2009 Bottle, thanks to Courtney, muddy orange brown the color of orange juice turning bad, aromas of wine and oak, woody, flavor has a great balance of sour wine and balsamic, oak, smoke, non existent alcohol and finishes with a good even finish

Nov 19, 2009 BFM Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien pours up very effervescent creating a pillowy, tannish-rouge head that envelopes the glass, but fades quickly leaving lace in its wake above the hazy, deep reddish-brown body. The aroma is amazingly complex with notes of cherry brandy, cinnamon, hazelnut, oak, treacle & vanilla which carry wonderfully over the fruity, sour cherry maltiness. The flavor starts off just as fruity with some caramel sweetness before the sourness catches hold to carry this one through to a dry, puckering finish that warms the cheeks. This most certainly drinks like a wine or even an apertif. Great with a cave-aged cheese e.g Mimolette & crusty bread!

Aroma: Sour fruit, and some alcohol.
Taste: Very sour, alcohol. Cherry and fruit. Not my style.

Nov 5, 2009 There aren’t enough words to describe this beer, and beers of it’s ilk. The aging and blending process this beer goes through fosters a complexity I rarely encounter in a beverage. Aroma is of sour fruit (berries mostly), wine, and bubblegum. Smoother palate than I would expect from a sour beer. As stated, the flavor is complex. "There’s a lot going on", is what we kept saying while drinking it, followed by what seemed like descriptions a stoner would give while describing the colors on his black light posters.

Oct 24, 2009 Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has of fruits and cherries with an acidic edge. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of fruits and cherries, leading to a dry acidic finish. Thanks omhper for sharing.

Oct 22, 2009 750 bottle from Bieropholie, shared with Phil, served cold in a Pils flute.
App.: Very cloudy deep copper with orange hues and remnants of a tan head.
Aroma: Light Brett, smoke, caramel, tangy fruits, lots of wood, spicy, lighter yeast.
Palate: Medium body, full, lively, round effervescence.
Flav.: Tangy fruits, cherries, berries, light funk, some light smoke, a bit of wood, spicy, peppery; lightly sour with fairly strong bitterness, remnants of peppery herbals and malt.
Interesting and complex.
