This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a extremely large sized head of all foam bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind a hazy softly carbonated dark orange brown colored body and a fair lacing. The bottle started foaming up and oput of its mouth as soon as it was un capped. It continued to foam up and out of the bottle for like ten minutes! I have never seen one like that before. The aroma was malty musty and dough. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt mild spice coriander and mild dough. An OK brew just nothing special.

2006 bottle. Took a long, long time for the gushing to finally stop. It was like the energizer bunny in that it kept gushing, and gushing and gushing. Huge frothy, foamy and fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting, minimal carbonation, virtually no lacing, murky, and an orange brown hue. Nose was hoppy, sweet, clove, spicy, tart, fruity, caramel, and citrus. Flavor was sweet, tart, sour, hoppy, fruity, spicy, lightly acidic, light caramel taste, and somewhat bitter. Mouthfeel was thin. Light-medium body. The aroma was better than the flavor IMO which was a disappointment even though this is not one of my favorite beer styles.

Thanks to after4ever for this one. This brought back some college memories. It started to gush big time and filled the Duvel glass really fast... at which point my only option was to chug foam until I found another glass to pour it in. Ridiculous carbonation here, and it’s been cellared for over a month now. Murky amber body with lots of floaties. Aroma has a lemony tartness with notes of caramel and various fruits from berries to oranges. Tart sweetness in the finish, medium bodied. Once it stopped fizzing everywhere this became a very enjoyable beer. The price tag is scary though. The tartness and carbonation worked for me.

2006 Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, rocky, off-white, fully lasting. Body is hazy dark amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cooked caramel, cookie, toasted bread), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of cave earth, peach/nectarine, light note of alcohol, pomegranate, candied tropical fruits. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Really fruity and enticing aroma, very very sexy. The flavor isn’t as rich and satisfying as Bavaisienne, but this was really delicious.

750. 2006. Beer is hazy medium brown with a huge, frothy, off-white, diminishing, mostly lasting head.
The aroma is really pleasing. Malty with moderate notes of toasted grain, creme brulee, shortbread cookie; Hoppy with moderate notes of herb, lemon zest; Yeasty with moderate note of basement; Moderate-to-heavy notes of brown sugar, warm alcohol. Light notes of tropical fruit, spicy pear. Less-than-trace note of rubber.
The flavor is heavily bitter, moderately sweet with a long, slightly warm, moderately bittersweet finish. Top-soil & anise in the retros.
The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

(750ml bottle) Enormous beige head atop a hazy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, herb, orange zest. Taste is medium sweet, herb spicy, herbal, some caraway, grassy, light caramel, peach. Some floral once it warms. Moderately dry finish with light alcohol warming. Medium body, holds the alcohol well.
