Pours a fairly murky yellow-brown color with white floaties, some of them fairly large. Medium head with decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is citrus, light funk and light hop notes. Taste is quite funky with huge citrus notes, caramel and a slightly bitter, minty, leafy hop note in the finish. Some pineapple, berry and other fruits. Medium bodied. Just like most of their brews this one is odd, interesting and quite good. Guerde (700), Welcome, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 30, 2009 (bottle thanks Joebrew!) Pours dark amber with a towering beige head that completely fills my excessively large novelty snifter. The smell is really just enjoyable, with some scents of dust, light funk, stale hops, lightly floral, rosehips, and a faint touch of barnyard as well. The taste is great too, with flavors of caramel, vanilla, lightly floral, with some spices I can’t identify. The finish possesses a bit of yeastiness and a faint bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is lively. Don’t know why this is listed as an IPA, as it says it’s a Biere de Garde on the label, and it certainly tastes as such. Either way, this is a really enjoyable beer, and one I hope to try again. Thanks again Joe! MatSciGuy (631), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA

Aroma is old, faded hops, sweetish malt, lots of florals, and some banana. Flavor is mild floral hops, somewhat spicy, mild, light, crackery malt, light alcohol, and a bit of brett. I don’t see how this is an IPA, more of a BdG, but it is very tasty and unique. ajm (922), Los Angeles, California, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 17, 2009 Bottle sample from Guerde (thanks!) Hazy orange pour, with TONS of carbonation that took a while to settle. Flavor was not what I was expecting, although the hops were definitely there, they were very mellow rather than in your face like I’m used to. Effervescent mouthfeel continued through the sample and I could notice occasional earthy spice as it warmed a little. Good, but not worth going out of your way to get. darn1207 (554), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2009 11.2oz bottle. hazy orange-brown pour with a fluffy off-white head that sticks around a while. spices and yeast in the aroma. the taste holds on to the yeast - but not quite as strong. mixes well with sweet malts, dark fruits, coriander and a slightl sour note. finishes up with an even grassy hop bitterness. not sure what to make of this one. an interesting sipper I guess. Aroma of citrus fruits, sweet yeast, and light malt. Taste had plenty of orange flavors, light hop bitterness, mild yeast, and plenty of sweetness. Mouth was fairly carbonated and medium bodied. Finish was a little bitter. Overall, an interesting "IPA". MoDog (917), Griffith, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 11, 2009 11.2oz swing-top bottle, served in a shaker. This poured a hazy burnt orange hue with a thin, short-lived beige head. A small amount of lace was left around the glass. The aroma contained strong grapefruit, oranges, sour lemon, and also some heavy, sugary caramel. The flavor was bitter and somewhat sour. Bitter oranges along with sour lemon candy. Some caramel lurking underneth the sourness. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and had a light to moderate amount of fairly aggressive carbonation. The flavors on display here didn’t really mesh well.
