Light seeded fruit aromas over roasted malt/caramel. Seems a bit acetic. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. It is quite astringent. Woody maltiness follows the fruity hoppiness. The finish is like sucking wood. Arguably a very light touch of funk. The sort of IPA where the hop results in something other than bitter. There is arguably some bitter, but astringent is a much more appropriate term. My mouth seems to be dehydrating. A beer to enjoy rather than guzzle. Going down pretty fast though. Very good beer. Slight sour apple aroma, not much hoppiness. Hoppiness is there in the taste though, not too bitter really. Not much of an IPA , but not bad either. drewbeerme (2272), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 28, 2008 Darker brown color with a a medium head. Aroma has some big barleywine-ish sugar, spice, and lots of slightly faded floral and piney hops. Flavor has some muted floral hops, a bit of sugar, and a spicy but underwhelming profile. Must have been better fresh, but its average at best right now. WeeHeavySD (2963), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Seems weird to have an aged ipa, but oh well. Nose is muted and somewhat hoppy. Taste is sweet and spiced. If this an IPA, I’m drinking this in outer space while sitting on the rings of saturn. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Courtesy cmillward. Cloudy brown pour, thick rocky white head. Nice floral hoppy aroma, some bubble-gum phenols present. Hops pretty mellow on the taste from sitting a bit. Sweetish taste, pretty straightforward Belgian characters. Nice slight tartness to the finish.
