Unknown vintage of my swing top bottle, but has had time to gather lots of dust. Pours with a large, rocky, white head covereing a cloudy, light orange body with some medium sized particles floating around in it. Some alcohol legs stand above the minimal lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma is rich orange zest, tangarine hops, some citric sourness (and barnyard), lightly tangy toffee malts and some muscat grapes. Taste is dry and quite tangy with a bit of sourness. Lots of lemon with some apple, earthiness, and wood. Creamy mouthfeel with soft bubblees. An odd, sour instead of bitter IPA.

Brownish orange, slightly opaque, massive creamy head, lacing, spicy and citrus notes, flavor is lightly sweet, some interesting spice, and a light hop bitterness... then nothing. After a few sips the finish changed and became a quite hoppy pleasant finish. Weird.

Bottle - swing-top - at Max’s. Copper with a huge head. Very effervescent! Nose is hoppy and floral with a spice and subtle herbal aroma. Taste is floral and hoppily bitter with more light herbal notes, yeast and dried fruits. Body is bubbly but light-medium overall. Finishes with more bitterness but some stronger fruits and dusty yeast. Light flowery notes as well.

Hazy golden-amber body with a big, frothy cream-colored head. Rich and warm dark candy sugar and caramel aroma plus alcohol and earthy hops in the background. Flavor has qualities of menthol and plastic plus medium sweet caramel, figs, leather, and furniture polish, and a medium phenolic/bitter finish. Overall the flavor is intense and somewhat medicinal. Strikes me as a hoppy and phenolic dubbel.

2006 bottle shared at Coastal Wine Connection’s monthly tasting. Very light flavors, malty and tart. Big frothy head over a hazy orange body. Bit of a spicy bite. OK, but at $19 a bottle, I’m glad I shared it.

Bottle. Rating #3500. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a small white head. Hasa fruity malty hoppy yeasty aroma. Dry bitter hoppy yeasty flavor with hints of grapefruit. Has a dry malty bitter hoppy finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

The aroma was spicy and earthy with cinnamon and a grassy hop character which was herbal. Some light caramel and toasty/nutty notes were present. The appearance was hazy golden amber with a frothy tannish head which laced the chalice from top to bottom. The flavor was hoppy with an herbal and grassy character which had a menthol note. Caramel was present, as was a toasty flavor, Munich Malt? The flavor contained a sizable peppery spice flavor which lessened into the aftertaste. The body was medium with a hight carbonation which led to a creaminess in the mouthfeel. A good beer, perhaps a bit light in maltiness for a BdG, but still a solid brew. 750 ml bottle ($17.99).
