Nose is hoppy and floral with a spice and subtle herbal aroma. Taste is floral and hoppily bitter with more light herbal notes, yeast and dried fruits. Body is bubbly but light-medium overall. Finishes with more bitterness but some stronger fruits and dusty yeast. Light flowery notes as well. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 10, 2006 Hazy golden-amber body with a big, frothy cream-colored head. Rich and warm dark candy sugar and caramel aroma plus alcohol and earthy hops in the background. Flavor has qualities of menthol and plastic plus medium sweet caramel, figs, leather, and furniture polish, and a medium phenolic/bitter finish. Overall the flavor is intense and somewhat medicinal. Strikes me as a hoppy and phenolic dubbel.

Very light flavors, malty and tart. Big frothy head over a hazy orange body. Bit of a spicy bite. OK, but at $19 a bottle, I’m glad I shared it. dolemike1 (1129), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA

After a few sips the finish changed and became a quite hoppy pleasant finish. Weird. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2007 Pours dark orange with a ridiculously large light tan head. The aroma is very spicy, earthy, barnyard, sharp fruits and citrus. Medium body with semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts sharp, tart, dirty and earthy - very crisp. The finish is sour, spoiled, veggie and spice. For a highly priced and rated biere de garde I expected far far better than this. Very dissapointing. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
