Unfortunately I served this at cellar temp, undisturbed, and lost the top 1/4th of the bottle due to excessive carbonation. I immediately switched from a triple glass to a dubbel glass hoping that the goblet would help decarbonate the beer somewhat. Even after filling the goblet the CO2 continued to push beer up and out of the neck of the bottle. This was a very hazy beer, most likely from the CO2 pushing the yeast into suspension, orangey amber in color with a rocky, tan, thick head. Juicy malt aroma with strong coriander notes and cooking spices underneath. Flavor has all of the peppery spiciness underneath, the body is a little lean, the juicy malt is there but is understated, and the long, spicy, hoppy, earthy hoppy finish.

750ml bottle, 2006 vintage. Hazy brown color, nice white head. Slight sour apple aroma, not much hoppiness. Hoppiness is there in the taste though, not too bitter really. Not much of an IPA , but not bad either.

Bottle sample from Guerde (thanks!) Hazy orange pour, with TONS of carbonation that took a while to settle. Flavor was not what I was expecting, although the hops were definitely there, they were very mellow rather than in your face like I’m used to. Effervescent mouthfeel continued through the sample and I could notice occasional earthy spice as it warmed a little. Good, but not worth going out of your way to get.

Murky copper color with a thick head. The aroma is dead to the world. Big flavors of wet horseblanket and spices. Much yeast. It’s not all bad.

2006 bottle. Took a long, long time for the gushing to finally stop. It was like the energizer bunny in that it kept gushing, and gushing and gushing. Huge frothy, foamy and fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting, minimal carbonation, virtually no lacing, murky, and an orange brown hue. Nose was hoppy, sweet, clove, spicy, tart, fruity, caramel, and citrus. Flavor was sweet, tart, sour, hoppy, fruity, spicy, lightly acidic, light caramel taste, and somewhat bitter. Mouthfeel was thin. Light-medium body. The aroma was better than the flavor IMO which was a disappointment even though this is not one of my favorite beer styles.

From julio’s Liqour in Mass. 2006 bottle. Pours with a slightly cloudy amber-orange body topped by a medium thick, white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet yet sour with a touch of grassiness. The aroma has notes of mustard. Light to medium bodied, smooth and a touch dry.
