wyzzywyz22 (387), Wirral, Merseyside, England Sep 1, 2008 Bottle, Drinks of the World, Zurich. Hazy brown colour with a beige head. Yeasty, spicy aroma. Flavour similar with added fruit balanced with some sourness. Bitter finish. Not bad. sebletitje (370), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 15, 2008 Updated: Aug 16, 200833cl bottle.
Pours cloudy brown with beige head.
Aroma is yeasty, fruity and sweet reminding me of honey.
Taste was hoppy with a light sour note, spicy and fruity (orange peel). Beer left a good tingly feeling on the palate and almost an oakish feel (as the Rodenbach beer), sugary and ligh notes of caramel. Lots of sediments.
Quite drinkable. The aroma and appearance start off great, but the ending is a little let down. It seems the beer is missing something. marcbé (79), Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada Mar 22, 2008 Orange brown color, fading head. Clove aroma. Spicyness covers everything. Taste like prune. sour then bitter and finally some sugar. Ok bu11zeye (3780), Frisco, Texas, USA Mar 8, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a cloudy brown body with a small creamy beige head. Aroma of sulfur, raisins, dates, grape juice, roastiness, cinnamon, light smoke, clove, and burnt caramel. Flavor of roasted malt, plum, red grapes, cinnamon, and burnt caramel. Glouglouburp (2000), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 4, 2008 In short: Some kind of dark fruity, spicy, dirty, slightly sour Belgian ale. Aggressively unpleasant to my palate.
How: Bottle, 330ml probably around 6 months old
The look: Cloudy light brown body with lots of little chunks of yeast. Small and short-lived off-white ring of foam. Ends-up looking like a glass of dirty earthy water
In long: Cherry sourness and caramel sweetness fighting with each other instead of working together. Additional flavours include old wet and rotten cinnamon bun, strong inappropriate spiciness, red apples skin and some cacao. A bit sandy. Light (empty) body. Short finish. That Torpedo is off, way off, so way off in fact that if it was a real Torpedo it would probably hit a flock of birds.
