The aroma is mildly smoky, leaning more towards peat in its meakness, with hints at barnyard, earth, and figs. The mouthfeel is a little light. Faint malt vinegar, goat cheese, black tea and delicate wafts of smoke hit my palate. This is a solid and well balanced unique brew. I much enjoyed it, though it needs more smoke.

Big stable off-white head. The flavour is slightly roasted, there are some citric notes. Not as much Bretty as lactic, but rather mildly so. yespr (12423), Copenhagen O, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Cloudy orangey brown, thin but dense head. Plus a bonus appearance point for the ultra snazzy squat flip top bottle. Faint aroma - mildly smokey, mildly tart. Flavor has some tartnesss or sourness up front, then a subtle smokey note. Rather odd mix of sour n smoke. kkearn (1014), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2009 33cL flip top bottle. Pours reddish amber, capped with a modest sized off-white head that fades rapidly to a thin ring of bubbles. Unusual, enticing aroma, with woody, lactic notes, pepper, tea, and caramel. Flavor is unusual, but not in the same delicious way as the aroma. Flavor is mild at first, with not much more than caramel and tea. Pepper and spice join in towards the finish, and a little pepper hangs out for a brief finish. Thin to medium bodied, with little carbonation. Weird stuff, but I liked it. rudolf (1787), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 15, 2009 Tap @ Cole’s. Amber body, tan head. Nose is fruity - cherry, berries, some cleaning product. Flavor is berries, a little smokey fruit, some toasted malt. Almost a non-acidic sour, if that makes sense. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
