emerica56 (434), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA May 16, 2008 Pours a cloudy orange coloe with a thick white head, and was enjoyed with Alldaydrinker and Drink4satan while brewing some beer. the nose was very tart and had some apple, pear, lemon, and fig with bitter hops. The initial flavor was very tart and had some lemon grass with a fig and black currant finish. The tart citrus finish was nice and it made the beer more enjoyable.
jcr (809), Jasper, Indiana, USA Jul 19, 2008 750 ml. Funky and tart with a fizzy mouthfeel and light texture — easy to drink because it is clean and brisk. Hazy, dark golden to amber body with a huge, fizzy, off-white head that sticks around. The aroma is musty barnyard and citrus along with some grassiness, grape, clove and unripened pear. The flavor is moderately acidic and moderately sweet. Lightly bitter in the finish, but an acidic tartness carries through from beginning to end. Leaves a lingering dry mouthfeel. Medium body with a watery texture. Lively carbonation. Classified as a tradtional ale, but drinks an awful lot like a funky saison. And as that, it is full of farmhouse flavors. Very nice.
gunhaver (541), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bottle, courtesy sebletitje. Pours a golden copper color, fluffy white head and tons of lacing. Spicy herbal aromas, some grassy wheat, fig. Yeasty flavors, dry wheat, fig and hops in the after-taste, which provides a sweet finish. Drinkable, dry, quite easy to finish. DuffMan (1883), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 3, 2008 Cloudy orange gold, towering frothy white head. Interesting aroma of cloves and yeast. Slightly must yeast, spicey (anise, marzipan), and lightly fruity. Very interesting, very drinkable, delicious. sebletitje (129), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 22, 2008 Blonde/orange pour.
Very sweet and pronounced aroma of figs. I am happy to see that they use actual fig juice and nt just artificial extract. This help set the beer apart from others and really enhance the mouthfeel. Also present the distinct Belgian yeast. BeerandBlues2 (2379), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 20, 2008 750 mL bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours sparkling amber with a large, frothy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, grain, hay, straw), average hops (flowers, grass), average yeast (horse blanket, earth) with notes of fig, grapes, and cask. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.
