Eyedrinkale (3102), Beer Town, New York, USA May 10, 2004 Well, mine didn’t have the gold foil in the picture, waaaahhhh. Poured great in an Altenmuster glass a very darr brown with a tiny bit of red. Nice thick tan head. Smells like a Chunky candy bar with chocolate, nuts and raisins. Taske is thick and sweet and since it’s only 5%, you can taste the alcohol. Could very possible be the best Bock I have ever tasted. Mellow hop bite. Gimme another.
KingpinIPA (816), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 26, 2008 Bottle via Glouglouburp. Dark color. Smell of caramel, prunes, dates, spice, brown sugar, light chocolate and soy sauce. Taste of caramel, prunes, roasted malt, salt, nuts, plums, dates, spice, rye, brown sugar, light chocolate and soy sauce. willblake (1930), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Apr 28, 2008 20070303 341ml bottle, 2005, thanks RLB. Fruity, dates, raisin, and a touch of chocolate. Sherry/vinous notes plus dark miso. Yummy, if odd. KnutAlbert (2174), Oslo, Norway Mar 11, 2008 Bottle kindly shared by larsga.
Typical bock aroma, burned sugar. Ruby/brown.
Caramel, a bit spicy. Some herbal bitterness among the sweets. Dryish finish. larsga (2141), Oslo, Norway Mar 8, 2008 Medium beige head. Hazy deep barely translucent amber body with carbonation. Dense chocolatey caramelly aroma with bready notes. Sweet chocolatey roasty caramelly taste with soft, wheaty character and bready, yeasty notes. Dry roasty aftertaste. Very nice! Sort of a US interpretation of the style. (0.341l bottle traded from glouglouburp. 2005 vintage.) Styles (1653), Taylor, Michigan, USA Dec 1, 2007 Sample courtesy of Pailhead. Transparent mahogany, off-white film for head. Very sweet aroma. Huge toffee/caramel/toasted grain, faint fruity esters in the background. Flavoron par with aroma. Huge toffee/caramel, dominate through and through, and although it never gets cloying, tad more carbonation would help. Well done regardless.
