Boutip (1815), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Apr 8, 2008 Bottle: Poured a deep clear copper color ale with a medium foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with some toffee notes and caramel. Taste is also dominated by some sweet malt with distinctive notes of caramel and toffee. Fairly low hops presence which does fit the beer properly as accent should be put toward malt. Medium body with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I very much appreciated that one and it reminds me of Youngs Old Nick. Eructoblaster (1266), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Aug 18, 2008 Bottle - 341ml. Pours a hazy hazelnut brown body with average carbonation and a thin beige frothy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with barley, brown sugar, and plummy hints. Rich and complex vineous taste. It carries subtle grainy and oaky notes. Ends with a long, robust, warm finish. Unsurprisingly, another very well done beer from Bièropholie. rustychiles (475), Mesa, Arizona, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bottle courtesy of radiomgb.
Pours a reddish brown with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is sweet, malts, caramel and hops. Flavor of molasses, sugar, fruit, some earthiness as well. Has a lingering bitterness that hits in the end. Interesting brew. Taktik_MTL (1983), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada Mar 3, 2008 Updated: May 1, 2008En fut. (Rating #1491) beerbiere (100), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Feb 11, 2008 Copper-orange color, small head, recedes to a rim; carbonation is low. Aroma evolves mainly around candy: jolly rancher (watermelon), lifesaver (grape), barley sugar, cotton candy, corn syrup and a touch of cognac (vanilla grape and oak). What I expected from its aroma did happen in mouth: definetely on the sweet side, although a dry medicinal bitterness manages to emerge through this sea of melted sugar. Actually, the bitterness lasts for quite a long time but with subdued intensity. The sweetness takes too much room to my tastes. However, I was surprised that the beer is not cloying. The problem I have with rating this beer is I feel there is nothing with to compare it.
