Commercial Description:
Made in the tradition of artisan brewers, Sans Culottes is a blonde beer sur lie. Probably the best bière de garde for the uninitiated to start with. Packed in a 75 cls bottle with a wired-down cork, Sans Culottes sports a brilliantly eye-catching label showing a revolutionary soldier proudly wearing his pantalons, having wisely forsaken his culottes for the coming struggle.

750. Been tasting yucky Christmas beers all night, this is a an oasis. Beer is clear, light-medium hued copper. Head is initially large, frothy, white. Diminishing but lasting.
Aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain; Hoppy with a trace notes of lemon zest, moderate sweet grass and honeysuckle, brewed mellow tea; Yeasty with a trace of attic;Trace note of green apple peel.
The flavor is moderately-to-heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter with an average-length, lightly warm, lightly sweet finish.
The body is medium, the texture is creamy smooth and the carbonation is lively.
Simple and lovely.

750ml bottle poured a hazy golden yellow with a large lasting white head. Aromas of bread, apple and a hint of spice. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of bread, light fruitiness and spice with a lightly sweet finish.

Bottle. Golden amber beer with an off-white head. Spicy, earthy aroma. Yeasty, malty, earthy, citrusy flavor with a bit of spice at the end. Creamy mouthfeel. Light and refreshing with a bit of complexity to keep it interesting. Light honey tones.

Pours light gold with an enormous white head. The aroma is farily lihgt - some earthiness and spiciness though with bits of light hay that is kind of musty. Medium / light bodied with quite a bit of sharp prickly carbonation. On the taste the hazy-like malt is dominant with some earthiness. There is also some sharp taste that shows the intensity of citrus, but not the citrus flavor. Finish has biting spice and carbonation. A good solid beer worth having.

(06.03.06) One pint, 6 oz green bottle from Firkin, Libertyville, IL. Bottle labeled as best before 25 ? 07. poured hazy golden yellow with large white head. Soft carbonation. Earthy spicy aroma. Medium bodied bier de garde that starts semi-dry with fruity toasted malt flavors. Some light hop flavor. Finished with light malt fade. Very good and fresh tasting beer.

Bottle (from Bitter Virtue, BB Jan 07). Pleasingly hoppy with grassy, floral earthy aromas the malt is dry and biscuity with a little spicy yeast. Fairly dry body with zesty hop finish. As the bottle progresses a kind of musty sweetness builds up which wasnt entirely to my taste.

Another great beer from Degarth. This one pours turbid dark straw with 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of floral hopcitrus, citrus fruit, including orange zest and tangerine, and some coriander notes. The flavor is on the dry and floral and spicy side, with notes of citrus, orange zest, and some finishing funky yeast esters. Very good.
