Commercial Description:
Made in the tradition of artisan brewers, Sans Culottes is a blonde beer sur lie. Probably the best bière de garde for the uninitiated to start with. Packed in a 75 cls bottle with a wired-down cork, Sans Culottes sports a brilliantly eye-catching label showing a revolutionary soldier proudly wearing his pantalons, having wisely forsaken his culottes for the coming struggle.

Light white head. Couldn’t get a proper aroma off of it. Those little tasting cups are worthless. A bevy of strange and mismatched tastes, reminds me of a group of Japanese fangirls.

Clear light amber color with a thin white head. Slightly earthy aroma. Flavors of light malt and some spice and earthy notes.

Orange colour with a small white head. Yeasty and spicy aroma with a light fruityness. Malty and fruity flavor with a rather bland spicy finish.

750ml. bottle. Clear, light golden color with a medium sized white head and nice lacing. Yeasty, spicy aroma with some black pepper and an earthy mustiness that I like. Sweet yeasty, bready flavor with a bit of nectarine and dried herbs. Odd plasticky aftertaste, but overall an enjoyable beer.

75cl bottle. Golden, blonde color, big white head, fairly spritzy. Very intriguing aroma...maltiness is there, but also an earthy, herbal(mint, sage??) spicy element which is dominant...floral as well...musky...at first I thought it was possibly skunked, but that has blown off and a muskiness remains. fair in body, a nice quaffer...a bit bitter, with a malty flavor that is again highlighted by some earthy funk, especially in the finish and the lingering. musk. The belches from this beer taste odd...they remind me a bit of the wild yeast used in New Belgium Biere d Mars this year...funky.

750ml. Wonderful floral, yeasty, dusty (I’m stealing that from the last person to rate this, Kowl, it is perfect), and yes barnyard/earthy aroma. Golden yellow, big ice cream like frothy white head - looks good. Taste is dry and yeasty up front, followed by a nice sweetness and spice. Medium mouthfeel. Some hops in the finish as well. A really nice sipper with tons of flavour, one of my favourites yet from Choulette and one of the best I have had in this hit or miss but always interesting style. Complex. I missed this at Beer Bistro, but glad I bought my own bottle at Premier.

Light orange/copper, lively carbonation, creamy layer of off white head. Aroma of yeast, must, some sourness, and light sugary fruit. Taste is roasty caramel malt, a touch of bitter hops, and musty yeast. Medium body, well carbonated, dry finish. Excellent.
