Commercial Description:
Made in the tradition of artisan brewers, Sans Culottes is a blonde beer sur lie. Probably the best bière de garde for the uninitiated to start with. Packed in a 75 cls bottle with a wired-down cork, Sans Culottes sports a brilliantly eye-catching label showing a revolutionary soldier proudly wearing his pantalons, having wisely forsaken his culottes for the coming struggle.

2005-05-24. Rich amber body with a small white head. Sweet aroma, muddled spice. Similar flavour shows potential at first, but finishes with a fairly benign sweet malt base, mild spice. (6+) Average palate. Finishes much less nicely than it started out - I started re-rating because I thought the beer did not match my previous score but it ended up closer than expected. 6/3/6+/3+/12 - 3.0 Bottle shared by Biegaman <P>April 2005. Crisp clear yellow on the first pour, second pour is hazy. Small fluffy white head. Sweet acidic cidery aroma, muted spice. Flavour is similarly cidery. Didn’t get much out of this one really, perhaps a longer contemplation would have yielded more. Bit boring. Average palate. 5/3/5/3/11 - 2.7 750 ml Bottle @ Smokeless Joes following C’est What Fesival of Small Breweries.

Golden hue with small floaties and a rocky and fluffy white head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of honeycomb, toasted malts, currant, pear, a very floral hops. A tad weak however. The taste starts very light and a bit sweet. Seems too be muddled and very hard to define. A bit of fruit and wood on the finish. Even the feel is muddled and lack character, soapy. Quite the blah induced brew with none of the qualities of the better examples of the style.

Golden with an initially large white head of foam. Aromas are sweet, honey malts with some soft citrus notes and yeast - has something of a Belgian Wheat about it. Flavours are sweet honey and lemon with grain and wheat. Not much going on in the finish. Not the most complex of beers but would make a good refresher on a summers day.

Bonus points for the Revolutionary name. Well done. Aroma of bananas and green olives. Briney body with notes of caramel, vanilla. Creamy mouthfeel. Well done.

Pours medium straw color with a huge fluffy white head. Aroma is a mild soft light malt with grassy floral hops. Flavor is a soft floral and a slight grass layed on a very soft light maltiness. Almost reminds me of a good pilsner with more body and less crispness. Very soft mild beer. Pairs well with mild cheese like American camambert.

Very low white head on an orange body. Fresh aroma, reminds me of flowers. Flavour is a bit bitter but moderate. An OK beer, no more.
