Flavor is where this one loses points. It starts out very bready and yeasty but then gives way to a overpowering sourness. I actually pucker after taking a sip. I probably won’t try this again. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2005 Blonde frothy headed beer with a fermented fruity aroma which reminds me of apricots. The flavour is fruity first with a sour finish that adds a slight bitterness. Overall a good beer. Pailhead (2593), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 16, 2005 Bottle: Sour Euro-lager aromas. Pours a transparent gold with a small white head. Bland Euro-lager flavors with a light smokiness in the background. Light sweetness in the finish. Introduction to the biere de garde genre and if this is typical of the style, I find it rather boring. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA

Excellent lacing. A little funky in aroma. Thin in body. Slightly sweet in taste. Touch of the funk in taste. Fair. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2004 Sparkling golden with a foamy white head. The aroma is big and fairly complex. Quite fruity and floral with some light malt. The flavor is more malty and yeasty than the aroma. Still a bit fruity but not overly sweet. Dry medium body. Alcohol in the finish. Decent but there are better biere de gardes to be had. Kinz (2205), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 21, 2004 Clear coppery gold, OK head. Aroma is slight, initially bready, with an herbal note. Grassy, herbal flavor initially, almost hinting of infection, but it is sometimes difficult to tell in these farmhouse style ales. The herbal notes give way to a honeylike malt. Bit of a yeasty note on the finish as well. Disappointing overall.
