one my 3 favourite beers is now brewed by Huyghe which apparently bought Artelvelde ?! - dark orange colour, fine head, no lace, deep complexity of the aroma (cinnamon, orange, nutty), full-bodied, sweet followed by a great dry bitter, spicy and fruity finish - only one little touch under the original (like its alcohol content)

Well ... as this is one of my top 3 beers (with Rochefort 10 and Westvleteren 8), I think it is really time to put it in the database ! golden, transparent, nice fine foam; aroma: pastries, nut, complex, powerfull; flavor: perfumy, orange; long aftertaste - did I say fantastic ?

Hazy golden color, creamy head. Very nice aroma, deep, in the first notes reminding me a light version of Eku 28, than it changes: malty, fuity (banana…). Very good taste, even if the mouthfeel is just thinner than I expected, but with a good malty sensation for a Triple; it just lacks some maturation. Probably the best beer by Huyghe!

It is pleasing to see a beer of this strength pour with such a clean golden hue. The white head was billowy at first but then settled into the patina that seems to be common with beers of this grunt. The nose is quite fruity and delicate with hints of clove and banana. The flavour is well balanced even though there is a deal of candi to boost the alcohol. The banana and clove is also present as well as the cinnamon noted by haukur. Good lacing in the glass and a fine finish. From the brewery that produces the scratch and sniff nudie beer this is a surprise.

Hazy deep gold beer that was absolutely crammed full of floaties, aroma has that distinct "Belgian Strong" edge to it. Taste is citrussy with a malty finish to it - a beer worthy of a higher score.

Rerate: Sweet and doesn't hide the alcohol well, plus I'm Belgianed out, still, and probably for a while yet. But still something about this is good, even though I am also not a fan of this brewery! I think I really like the yeasty component...alot. Reduction from 5 months ago of .3. Original: 3/09/02: Incredible. Took Bov's advice on this gem, and ordered 3 from belgianshop.com. He's got the color perfect...golden, quite cloudy, with a very sticky head. The aroma when cold is different than when warm, which surprised me a bit. The cold aroma had a very small hint of a certain fruit I couldn't quite get: not pineapple, not raisin, and not banana. The yeasty, bread dough aroma was perfect (I like it even stronger!), the malt depth was excellent, in aroma and flavor. Hop bitterness lingers, but is replaced by a peppery finish that is of medium length. A complex beer, worth seeking out.

Bottle, 33 cl. Clear to slighty hazy golden color, with a foamy white head that quickly fades. Aroma fruity, little spice, yeast. Medium body. Taste bit sweet, hoppy, spicy, fruits and warm mouthfeel, alcoholic. Nice bitter finish. Good tripel.

Golden color with a white head not too persistent. Aroma is complex Crystallized fruits where we can select, apricot, apple some honey and burned sugar, a gang bang of aromas!! Flavor is mystic fallow the aroma, unexplained. Mouthfeel is like a desert of crystallized fruits and a sweet taste the keeps in your mouth for a long time!!

After I read the other comments, this is probably a like it or not beer, also regarding the high StdDev. For me it's a Like It! Triple style beer i guess. Hazy golden color, not the masses of yeast others describe. Aroma is spicy, banana, sweet maltiness, like the Duvel. Taste is complex, as fiulijn says: with a good malty sensation for a Triple.
