| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A stronger alt that maintains most of the style’s heavy drinkability.
I like:
Restrained nutty bitterness. Alcohol notions are very controlled - a touch more would be too much. Gentle and lasting carbonation. The elegant fruitiness of an old cheddar (sharp and flowery hard to pinpoint fruits - pears, roasted chestnuts, astringent wood cherries, bitter chocolate)
I dislike:
The head quickly disapparates from the deep auburn. A bit more acidity than expected (albeit very clean). Slightly coating lingering fruity residual sweetness. bu11zeye (5495), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2009 (12oz. bottle) Pours a lightly hazy amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of nuts, molasses, caramel, cracker, and alcohol. Flavor of toasted grain, watered down bourbon, and caramel malt. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Bottle courtesy of glouglouburp. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells nutty and roasty with a hint of chocolate, touches of spice and some fruity hints. Tastes of rich roasted malt, some chocolate, lots of spice, some earthy hints. Mouthfeel is tingly. Very enjoyable! MartinT (5055), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 20, 2008 My Bottom Line:
The luscious mouthfeel of this souped-up Altbier provides plenty of caramel atop the cracker-like base maltiness, leading to a spicy hop finish and much rejoicing.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy mahogany.
-The nose is rather timid (might be a sign of oncoming age), offering malt crackers and distant caramel.
-Carbonation is effervescent but soft.
-Hops are a factor mostly in the last half. I would have expected more in the nose.
-A polite fruitiness roams within (berries?).
-This is quite drinkable for its size. Its body tends to make it a sipper though.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2008 A dark brown alt with a thin quickly dissipating off white head. In aroma, a vinous and rich aroma, with dark fruits, banana, in doppelbock territory. In mouth, a good sweet and crisp malt, with licorice, nutty notes, burned caramel. Again, this is a doppelbock. Good work, RH! Bottle at Jovi, 2.99$. Sammy (4012), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2008 Pleasant easy drnking alt found at Metro Joanette. The most recent in the Bieropholie series. Caramel smooth above-average mouthfeel. Some old ale barley aroma. Alcohol fuel drying finish. HogTownHarry (4006), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2009 Updated: Jan 18, 2009Bottle (341ml). Courtesy of blankboy. Clear ruby-amber with a very small head. Dry, slightly boozy aroma, dry cedar, sweet citrus malt, a bit of cocoa bitterness. Taste of tart fruit, green olives, dry pine resin, baker’s chocolate and marigold. Average body, quite astringent and well carbonated - nice long bitter finish. Very good, could be maltier.
