341mL bottle from a trade with a friend in Ottawa. My second only ever Altbier (LAME LCBO/Beer Store). Pours a very nice looking, hazy dark amber with a large beige head. Aroma is very interesting, darker malt profile with some nice hop presence, similar to a lot of Quebec beers, with some dryness, spice character (black pepper), a touch of anise, and some sourness. Pretty complex actually. Wow, taste is interesting. You get hit with this weird dry spicyness upfront, very powerful, making way for some minor waves of dark caramalized malty sweetness. A subtle hint of the alcohol is also present throughout, but is quite the shy character. Maybe a touch of yeast as well. This is definitely one very interesting, complex, and perhaps unique beer. Fuller mouth-feel. Boring shades of a dopplebock here, and it worked out well. This is quite a beer. The spices are what really surprised me. Similar in that respect to Dieu du Ciel Route d’Espices. As it warms a touch of sourness becomes more apparent, and it gets more and more Earthy. What a beer, I could write a book about this one! (but will refrain from doing so of course)

341mL Bottle. Brassin 1. Interesting bready nose. Nutty and filled with flax, oat, and pepita. Very nice, deep rich bready sourdough nose. Alcohols add a complex edge. Pours a somewhat murky red-brown with an orange fringe and a fresh soapy off-white head. Flavor is delicious and complex. A really nice chewy malt profile, filled with well-developed caramels, nuanced malt, and fresh bread. Again, alcohols build complexity into the beer. Browned sugars meld really well into the beer. Toothy. A light, fresh juicy hop figure provides balance in the back end. This is a stellar Alt! Thanks Dany!

Bottle courtesy of glouglouburp. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells nutty and roasty with a hint of chocolate, touches of spice and some fruity hints. Tastes of rich roasted malt, some chocolate, lots of spice, some earthy hints. Mouthfeel is tingly. Very enjoyable!

bottle by way of glouglouburp... pours a hazy deep red amber with a beige head. pleasantly rich aroma is full of chocolate, brown sugar, malt powder, toasted nuts, raisins and other hard to pin point dried fruits. the palate is quite thick with sweetness but it is in no way annoying or unwelcome... flavors of caramelized nuts, vanilla, brown sugar, malt powder, warm spices and a lightly bitter dry finish. there’s a strange sourness/acidity throughout much like green grapes which cleans up any sugar left on the finish. chocolate shows back up in the aftertaste. medium to full body with nice soft carbonation.

A dark brown alt with a thin quickly dissipating off white head. In aroma, a vinous and rich aroma, with dark fruits, banana, in doppelbock territory. In mouth, a good sweet and crisp malt, with licorice, nutty notes, burned caramel. Again, this is a doppelbock. Good work, RH! Bottle at Jovi, 2.99$.
