App.: Clear, medium copper, substantial off-white head.
Aroma: Nutty brown sugar, vinegar (uh-oh) and not much else.

Flav.: Caramel, toffee, nuts; thankfully no vinegar; peppery, mild bitter finish.
Old bottle? Likely, since this is a solid brewer.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 29, 2007 Hazy amber brown in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas of mild citrus, peat smoked malt, caramel, and a bit of chocolate malt. Very gentle rounded flavors of caramel malts, vanilla, mellow herbal hops, and a bit of milk chocolate. Dries out nicely too. It has aged quite nicely. Many thanks to radiomgb for the sample. GregClow (2515), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 10, 2007 Bottle via trade with HogTownHarry - Épicerie J.A. Moisan label. Dark brown-copper colour with a small tan head. Aroma is a bit stale, but still pretty nice, with good caramel notes, some grapes and orange zest, and a whiskeyish warmth. Good mouthfeel. Flavour is pleasant, with sweet caramel malt, some smokiness, and a herbal bitterness. Seemed a bit like a barley wine to me. Not too bad at all. OldGrowth (1434), North Carolina, USA

Cardboard, fig/date, whisky caramel. Clean brownish orange color, nice head & lace. Bitter flavor, like aroma with a little smoke. Medium body, lite oily viscous mouthfeel, bitter finish. Not offendable, but yet it didn’t make me rush to finish.
