I have to mention the label here...very cool map of Montreal with lovely clean graphics, this bottle is captioned "Le Paradis de la biere", 151 Laurier ouest, which is Depanneur Rahman quite close to Dieu du Ciel!.....on to the beer itself, which pours a lovely burnished brassy color, topped by a large bubbly off-white head that upon fairly quickly receding leaves some of the prettiest snowflake-patterned lace you’ll see.....the nose is all malt and yeast, no hoppy presence at all but the caramel and grapiness is thick and somewhat port-like so you wouldn’t expect it....some oxidation apparent, light dry somewhat smelly herbs as well....body is, somewhat surprisingly, rather dry and bitter, a bit dryly smoky/scorched tasting with underlying caramel sweetness, some alcoholic harshness, lots of woody character and aged dry yeast....the finish is very hard and arid though a bit of dried/baked fruit sweetness at midpalate keeps the desert at bay....fairly full-bodied, low to medium carbonation. An interesting beast, this, one that I didn’t much like through the first 1/3 of the bottle but which grew on me to the point of a recommendation; a bit of age might soften this but I think could sour it as well. Citrus and leafy hops plus toffee aroma. Toffee, brown sugar, citrus, fruity, pine, and woody flavours. Medium to full bodied, smooth and silky. Apparently I enjoy this brewery’s house character... jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 23, 2006 Dark brown amber, small white head. Odd but pleasant citrusy hops - orange - in the aroma along with something I can not put my finger on. Flavour starts with a bit of candied orange, finish has tart raspberry notes following a fruity malt middle. Average palate. Interesting. Quevillon (1537), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada

Deep clear amber with a solid lasting creamy-rocky tan head. Smells of grainy roast malt and lightly citrus hops, a bit bready.. Taste is a nice balance between light roast malt and mild citrus malt, with a hint of spicy yeast and oak. Pleasant, if a bit thin palate, quick somewhat bitter finish, decent carbonation and overall an eminently drinkable beer - I’d have this again for sure. blankboy (3250), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2006 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber with an average size off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, spices and caramel malt. Flavour is equally malty and hoppy with some spices, fruit and wood. Nicely carbonated and medium bodied. It says "bière forte" (strong beer) on it but you’d never know it, the alcohol’s very well hidden. Another good beer from Bièropholie! Glouglouburp (2877), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

More hoppy than what I’m used to from an Old Ale. Taste is pretty hoppy, malt caramel, nutty flavours and peppery spices. Short but pleasant bitterness. More complex but les punchy and less bitter as their IPAs.
A superior session beer and another winner from Bièropholie. This is a limited edition beer that is only distributed in a limited number of places. The label of the Azimut is actually a map with a red star where the Azimut is sold. I tend to get disoriented when I’m drunk but thanks to the Azimut I’ll now be able to find my way to even more beer. I applaud the initiative!

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 6, 2006 341 ml bottle. Deep orange coloured brew with thin white head. Sweet dried fruit. Cherry, plum, a bit of orange (fruit and peel). Malty caramel and bready undertones. Fairly strong coriander spicing as well. Flavour comes across less balanced than the aroma. Special B plumminess, some toffee and a bit of nutmeg and cinnamon. Toward the finish there is some strong roast and a bit of astringency. As the temperature comes up, there is also some prominent floral/herbal hop flavour. Strange brew, but not unpleasant.
