Commercial Description:
"An "EinsundHälfteBock". According to us, more than a regular Bock and, according to those who have decided to put beers in tight, little categories, it is not quite strong enough to really be called a doppelbock. Brown beer of German inspiration. A 6% abv lager. A full-bodied personality with dominant and complex malt flavors and, oh!, a hop presence which is...um...not quite shy! We broke the style mold for the great pleasure of hop heads. This is Bièropholie!

Last batch brewed in december 2004 and bottled in january 2005. Next batch will be in january 2008.

Pours a darker amber color, medium tan head. Aroma of toffee, malt, and a little bit of nuts. Flavor is also pretty malty, some fruit, nuts, and toffee, followed by some hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied, some astringency though. Overall a very fine bock.

Attractive deep copper appearance. Aroma never really developed, although there were hints of roasted caramel malt and dark fruits. Medium bodied flavor that took on some of the characteristics of a nut brown ale, with the lively carbonation and a hoppy, bitter taste. Balanced finish as the malts began to reassert themselves. (thanks, tiggmtl)

2004 - Dark ruby colour with a frothy diminishing tan head. Caramel, toffee, and light raisin or date aroma. Toffee, almost chocolate flavours, gradually shifting to a dry, lightly roasted moderate bitterness. Medium to full bodied, smooth and creamy mouthfeel. (7/4/8/4/15)
2005 - Dark ruby brown colour with a thin frothy tan head. Toffee, bread, and light orange peel aroma. Caramel, nutty, red wine flavours with a nutty, acidic and alcohol bitter finish. Light bodied, almost "airy" mouthfeel. (8/4/7/3/15)

Nice dark color, strong bitter taste thick crown, with a strong and present aroma. I like the smell of this beer, but i’m not a big fan of bitter beer maybe in a few years

Sweet malt aroma, some fruity hops, perfume .Pleasant. Dark ruby-amber look, with great impressive thick crown. Very respectable appearance. Medium-full bodied, medium light bitterness followed by full rich malt base. Very clean. Interesting hop finish mixed with sweet thick malt and little bit of alcohol. Very good bock.

pourerd clear deep dark burnt maple with no head but for seem reason the appearance was still quite striking...caramel pistacios and crystalized candied berries dance in the air...nutty sweet and caramelly flavors, not sticky thick though....a light layer of bitter chocolate underneath...

Thanks to David for sending me so many great beers from Canada! Rasta is the Shizat!

Pours a robust crimson body and a tan ring of lacing. The aroma is rather sweet and fruity, notes of caramel, plums, apples, dates, pears, and brown sugar. I take a sip…. Great palate, creamy and full. The flavor is SO much toastier than I was expecting! Caramelized sugars are intense, vigorously kilned dark malts, toffee, chocolate, and notes of coffee beans. A nice touch of smoke in the flavor… which is totally undetectable from the fruity aroma. I pull some darker fruits: prunes, dates, apple… oak, maybe some black pepper. Touch of smoky molasses… this is really great stuff!
As the beer warms, I find the ALC in this finish. It becomes more nutty, dark tabacco, a plug of that old Southern Chaw!
