Commercial Description:
"An "EinsundHälfteBock". According to us, more than a regular Bock and, according to those who have decided to put beers in tight, little categories, it is not quite strong enough to really be called a doppelbock. Brown beer of German inspiration. A 6% abv lager. A full-bodied personality with dominant and complex malt flavors and, oh!, a hop presence which is...um...not quite shy! We broke the style mold for the great pleasure of hop heads. This is Bièropholie!

Last batch brewed in december 2004 and bottled in january 2005. Next batch will be in january 2008.

Medium beige head. Hazy deep barely translucent amber body with carbonation. Dense chocolatey caramelly aroma with bready notes. Sweet chocolatey roasty caramelly taste with soft, wheaty character and bready, yeasty notes. Dry roasty aftertaste. Very nice! Sort of a US interpretation of the style. (0.341l bottle traded from glouglouburp. 2005 vintage.)

Sample courtesy of Pailhead. Transparent mahogany, off-white film for head. Very sweet aroma. Huge toffee/caramel/toasted grain, faint fruity esters in the background. Flavoron par with aroma. Huge toffee/caramel, dominate through and through, and although it never gets cloying, tad more carbonation would help. Well done regardless.

11.2 oz bottle thanks to Glouglouburp. This is one damn fine beer. Poured a deep dark reddish/dark brown with a HUGE light tan head that left a nice coating of tiny bubbles floating on this beer for the entire time I nursed it. Aroma of dark fruit, (raisins, plums and prunes), yeast, slight alcohol and an overall sweetness joining all the aromas together. Flavor is similar to the aroma but add to that a slight taste of chocolate. I thought the palate was perfect for this beer with a medium mouthfell and a slight touch of carbonation with a little alcohol warming on the back of the throat. If this was locally available I would buy more but who knows how a fresh bottle would compare to this one which was patiently aged for 2 1/2 years. Good Stuff.

341ml bottle from Glouglouburp, 2005. It’s weird to see a bottle say "strong beer" on it, stupid American laws. Pours brown with just a bit of translucence on the edges otherwise too dark for any clarity. Pours with just a bit of a tan halo lacing. Aroma is very strong and starting to show some age. It’s very perfume-y prune which is sweet and strong but at the same time a bit rotten-fruit-like. Other aromas of meat with light soy sauce, dark plum sweetness, and some alcohol booziness. Taste is similar with aged, perfume-y prune, some chocolate, and a long aftertaste of rotten grapes, which seems like a direct result of the age (it is almost 2.5 years old). Still though the beer is very nice, sweet and fun enough to drink. Mouhfeel is a bit slick, like thin oil, its also under carbonated, which does not help. Low bitterness and leaves a long slight past their ripeness dark fruits.

2005, 341ml. bottle thanks to RLB. Dark mahogany color with a small tan head. Nice sweet malty aroma with lots of caramel and molasses. Flavor starts off mildly sweet, with the aforementioned caramel and brown sugar, along with some nuts and light sherry. Finishes somewhat sour. Beer was obviously oxidized, but in a nice way. Quite enjoyable.

05 shared by RLB. Pours a rich deep dark brown, almost black with a thick sticky foamy head and great lace. Aroma is oxidized but in a nice way, some light paper, moderate soy blending well with the chocolate and nutty malts- thcik dark burnt toast, and lots of sweet caramel. More roast and chocolate flavor, oxidized, soy, slightly salty, sweet middle, and a drying burnt thick finish. Smooth.

2005 bottle...deep red color with medium tan head. Sweet roasty malt aroma. Smells like a scotch ale. Buttery delicious aroma, Sugary sweet flavors with some peat presence in the middle. Some tobacco also present in this brew, a good cigar beer. Well done

341mL bottle from HogTownHarry, lebeled 2005. Pours a clear dark ruby brown with a staying two finger light beige head. Aroma of raisins, tobacco, a bit of toast and roasty malts, and salted peanuts. Flavor is tobacco and charred wood up front, followed by some raisins and some salty peanuts again. There is some roasty bitterness in the dry finish with some alcohol--the alcohol doesn’t warm the throat, but is there--surprising at 6% ABV. Light to medium bodied, soft moderate carbonation. Very nice beer. Hooray, I’m rating 100 for this beer.
