Commercial Description:
"An "EinsundHälfteBock". According to us, more than a regular Bock and, according to those who have decided to put beers in tight, little categories, it is not quite strong enough to really be called a doppelbock. Brown beer of German inspiration. A 6% abv lager. A full-bodied personality with dominant and complex malt flavors and, oh!, a hop presence which is...um...not quite shy! We broke the style mold for the great pleasure of hop heads. This is Bièropholie!

Last batch brewed in december 2004 and bottled in january 2005. Next batch will be in january 2008.

(on bottle, 2005 edit., thnx papsøe) Very smooth and gentle beer; had on the very first atumday, nite. Earthy and dry sent, round maltyness and brown sugars in taste and a suttle, but persistaint chocolate and liqourice finish.

12oz bottle, 2005 vintage, courtesy of HogTownHarry. Thanks, Harry! Pours a dark blackish-brown with a light tan head; decent retention and lacing. Very generous aroma showing dried fruits, caramel, and roasted malts. Chewy sweet mouthfeel: caramel and raisins, charred malts, a bit of toasty vanilla; slightly dry and lightly carbonated; the hops are somewhat resigned at this point. Long finish, showing dried fruits, caramel, and spice. Pretty fantastic bock.

Pours an extremely dark brown with a decent head. The aroma is rich caramel and toffee malts with prune and date fruitiness. The flavor is sweet and rich and tastes more alcoholic than it lists.

nose: Yeasty, bready, nutty munich aroma, slight alcohol character appearance: Deep nut brown with red tint, pours thick but head disappears quickly. palate: thin for a bock alcoholic hang flavour: Lacks richness and deep munich character, roastiness overwhelms the flavour and finishes with a wet paper oxidized character Overall, the roast character was too intense should have been more toasty malty munch/vienna character, maybe the oxidation got the better of it.

Dark ruby-brown with a small tan head that disappears as quickly as my cousin Louis in front of a strip club. Molasses and black liquorice aroma. Taste is very malty (dark roasted malts), very sweet and syrupy, molasses, some black grapes and why not some black chocolate. Full bodied, heavy and with a satisfying mouthfeel. Alcohol is a bit more present than it should be at only 6%. An unusual bock. Good.

Bottle: Courtesy of HogTownHarry via trade. Great aroma of caramel and cocoa with a slight touch of nuttiness. Pours a mostly transparent dark reddish-brown with small off-white ring for a head. Lots of chocolate and caramel up front. Fruity tanginess in the middle. Finishes with light nuttiness and a touch of bitterness.
