Commercial Description:
"An "EinsundHälfteBock". According to us, more than a regular Bock and, according to those who have decided to put beers in tight, little categories, it is not quite strong enough to really be called a doppelbock. Brown beer of German inspiration. A 6% abv lager. A full-bodied personality with dominant and complex malt flavors and, oh!, a hop presence which is...um...not quite shy! We broke the style mold for the great pleasure of hop heads. This is Bièropholie!

Last batch brewed in december 2004 and bottled in january 2005. Next batch will be in january 2008.

Vintage 2005 - thanks GonZoBeeR. Pours near black with dark ruby hues and a thin, foamy tan head. Aroma of plums, toffee, sweet caramelized wort, figs, cherries. Taste is comlpex caramelized maltiness exhibiting a bouqet of fruity flavors and sweet vinous maltiness. Notes of prunes, plums, toffee, oak, and chocolate with a bit of roasty astringency. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with soft, supple carbonation. There are some noticable hops in here, but not enough to make them distracting, still ’true’ to style, despite their disdain for ’tight, little categories’. This is a nice beer that makes me want to visit Quebec

[Vintage 2005 - sampled March 2006] A deep red beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is very complex with strong notes of prunes, combined with notes of alcohol, chocolate, and berries. The flavor is less interesting, but still nice; quite sweet with quite strong notes of berries, combined with lesser notes of prunes, wood, alcohol, and roasted malt. The end is quite dry with notes of wood lingering.

An amber reddish beer with a foamy light brown head. Sharp malt, cake and spice aroma, Malt, cookie and rye in the flavor, dry and sharp and feels much stronger than 6%.

Un peu amère, sucré, c’est un goût assé intéressant. Le mouton est joli aussi.

Dark amberish burgundy color, with no carbonisation, just a lipid red amber liquid. No head at all, just a small lace that dissapeared, I guess it was shy! Hops come out of that beer, a sweet bitter smell sugar too. The taste is like the smell, sweet, very bitter, hopish beer, with extracts of sugar reminding me of syrup at time, a tiny bit dry.
