Commercial Description:
"An "EinsundHälfteBock". According to us, more than a regular Bock and, according to those who have decided to put beers in tight, little categories, it is not quite strong enough to really be called a doppelbock. Brown beer of German inspiration. A 6% abv lager. A full-bodied personality with dominant and complex malt flavors and, oh!, a hop presence which is...um...not quite shy! We broke the style mold for the great pleasure of hop heads. This is Bièropholie!

Last batch brewed in december 2004 and bottled in january 2005. Next batch will be in january 2008.

Bouteille Dep. Peluso Avril 2005

2005 bottle consumed 4/14/05. Pour reveals a dark mahogany/chestnut brown body, thick and lustrous looking. The head is large and light tan-beige. Great retention and plenty of lacing. Aroma of sweet nutty malt, mild chocolate, tons of bocky lager notes, molasses, brown sugar, maple and light roast. Flavor begins sweet and has a hugely creamy mouthfeel. Wonderfully full of malt, it ranges from chocolate and roast to prunes and molasses. All the while, the yeast is quite apparent, imparting a lightly wine-like character, lightly fruity and a touch sour. Hops are earthy on the finish, but mainly do not play in to the beer much as the commercial description would lead you to believe (must be referring to the 2004). Body is full, rich and creamy. One of the best bocks I can remember having. If the 2004 is supposedly better than the 2005, then I’m in for a real treat when I open the 2004.

bottled 2005, dark brown color with reddish highlights, light foamy head, smoky malt pea aroma with burnt caramel follows through on a medium-bodied with a sweet malted accent, fruity note, molasses, butterscotch and hint of smokiness finishing with a touch of bitterness.

2005 edition. Dark brown with ruby body. Very inviting fruity aromas with a hint of malt. Exquisite malt explosion with lightly roasted caramel. Toffee taste, well balanced with spices? Excellent beer.

bottled: a brisk pour into a bock snifter reveals a red-mahogany lager with a good 2 finger mocha colored cap that laces well. Nose is delicious...smokey-musty tangerine smells mingle with cocoa and woody hops. Buttery mouth feel....burnt/chared toffee character mingles with some spice tones... with a nice flood of hop bittering near the finish....finish is wet with sweet burnt toast after taste. This is a bock on par with Creemore.....very nice, very drinkable...actually, too damn drinkable.

Superb dark ruby body topped with a thick and lasting beige foamy head. Nice malty aroma with various fruity (grape, cherries, dark berries), brown sugar, rhum and roasty notes. Its vineous taste is perfectly balanced. Good warming finish. This really corresponds to my idea of a good Bockbier. Another nice shot from Bièropholie!
