Mar 26, 2006 [Vintage 2005 - sampled March 2006] A deep red beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is very complex with strong notes of prunes, combined with notes of alcohol, chocolate, and berries. The flavor is less interesting, but still nice; quite sweet with quite strong notes of berries, combined with lesser notes of prunes, wood, alcohol, and roasted malt. The end is quite dry with notes of wood lingering.

Feb 12, 2004 Dark amber. Bright. Slightly charcoaly aroma with some rotten orange, lavash, sesame seeds - like a fresh bagel from Rue St-Viateur. Warm toffee malts - well orchestrated - fully malty with a moderately long finish.

Jul 15, 2005 (2005 Bottle, 341ml) Clear, blood red body topped by large beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, nutty, chocolate, raisin, vinous. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, raisin, chocolate, some nutty, vinous, herbal. Smooth, medium-full body. Maybe the alcohol does not fit the doppelbock category, but the rest of it sure does.
